kai2k1 0 #3 November 21, 2003 That is soo cool, we had a guy out at our DZ this past sunday that had to be in his 70's doing a tandem. There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan

Truly. He still jumps once a week or so... -------------------------------------------- Elfanie My Skydiving Page Fly Safe - Soft Landings
dterrick 0 #7 November 21, 2003 Our only resident freeflyer is 72! Pat was a parachute rigger in the newly constructed hangar @2 at Gimli in 1951 - now home, in part, to our DZ. Never one to conform, or so he says, Pat has avioded all this "RW" stuff and and can be seen in bicycle shorts and a sit suit top in all but sub-zero weather. No, he doesn't bang our 10 jumps a weekend. He only flies his stiletto on 'nice' days (otherwise it's a big pillow of a PD - 260 I think, with smoke on holiday weekends). Damn I hope to be as active and alive as he is when I get to be that age! Dunno if Pat's numbers are that low given his early jumps in the 50's were military but you're quite right about the stories that can be told! Lee03 0 #9 November 21, 2003 This is GREAT! Check out Nightjumps story about his 90 year old student over in the General Discussion forum. All these 80 and 90 year olds jumping.. AWESOME! Gives me hope that I'll still be jumping when I get that age.. hope for all of us! These seniors ROCK!-------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
ScubaSteve 0 #10 November 21, 2003 Great story. I like how the writer describes feeling breifly connected to something he cannot describe.
usedtajump 1 #11 November 21, 2003 I once took an 86 year old guy on a tandem and he did great. The first comment he made after opening was "OOOHHHHH fuck, I wish I wasn't so damn old, I should'a done this years ago". He was a great guy and his 84 year old wife was very impressed with him after we got down. When they left the dz, they walked to the parking lot hand in hand. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
