lawrocket 3 #1 November 24, 2003 I just got engaged to be married. To all of you who helped me out on the Engagement Ring Thread your assistance was much appreciated. Your advice really helped, and when I get a picture of the final product I'll let you know. All I know is shopping for engagement rings is an occasional nightmare. But, in the end, well worth it if the answer is right. I planned on proposing to her tonight. I couldn't wait and I ended up proposing in a hotel room in Irvine after we started discussing our relationship. Not really romantic or anything. I just thought "Dang. The time is right. Improvise it!" So, we got engaged and went to my brother-in-law's birthday party, not telling anyone (it ain't cool to rain on another's parade). We'll tell the families on Thanksgiving. It's a happy thing. A wonderful thing. Even my best friend who rues his proposal said that the ring brought back many happy memories and a happier time. Please share your engagement story and spread the warm-fuzzies! My wife is hotter than your wife.
mr2mk1g 10 #2 November 24, 2003 Congrats on the engagement. Make sure your family throws you a huge party to celebrate. I asked my ex-fiancee to marry me exactly 1 year to the minute (as near as I could figure it) after our first date. Figured that the timing of it was more important than the location in our case. We broke up about 2 years ago now, I'm sure you'll have better luck buddy. Edit: I asked her to keep the ring and she wears it on the other hand. Casie 0 #3 November 24, 2003 CONGRATS...that's AWESOME! I was married, but not anymore, but here's my engagement story. My ex went to Belgium with his brother to hang out sotospeak. He had talked about going to Europe to get me a ring months before, so of course, it crossed my mind. Within 2 days of being there he was sooo excited & couldn't hold it in. He told me he got a ring! I was sooo excited & couldn't wait to see it. He had driven his car to the airport & was getting back extremely late. I fell asleep on the couch waiting for him. He arrived at the house around 12:30-1:00 in the morning. He came thru the door & immediately found me.....got on his knee & proposed. I could barely see, it was dark & I didn't have my contacts in.....LOL! I thought it was special!~Porn Kitty WARNING: Goldschlager causes extreme emotional outbursts! Nightingale 0 #4 November 24, 2003 My friend Meggie's husband proposed to her at the wishing well at Disneyland. He made a wish at the well for them to live happily ever after, and then turned around with the ring and asked her to make his wish come true! It was in front of a whole group of us that went to Disney together, and, of course, the friends and I decked the two of them out in the bride and groom mickey and minnie ears with the top hat and veil. It was one of the sweetest moments I've ever witnessed... and of course, everyone knew what he'd been plotting except for Meg. We asked Kody how he came up with the idea, and he said he'd asked his six year old cousin for HER idea of a romantic proposal, and the wishing well thing was what Chrissie came up with. He figured most women had known how they'd like to be asked since they were six or so, so asking Chrissie for ideas was worth a shot, and she came up with a great idea. Hummusx 0 #6 November 24, 2003 I took my (now) wife out for a nice dinner, and afterwards did your typical one-knee proposal. But when I gave her the ring, there was no stone. I told her that I wanted her to go look at diamonds with me and that we'd pick on out that she liked. A couple days later I showed up at her house at like 6 in the morning and told her we were going diamond shopping. Of course she was surprised, especially since she was supposed to be starting a new job that day. I told her to pack a bag because we were going on a trip. We flew out to Antwerp, the diamond capital of the world, and shopped the diamond places there. We spent about week sightseeing in Germany and Belgium. It was great fun, and definitely something neither of us will forget. ____________________________________ It’s like selling a million grills all at the same time…with extended warranties. -Hank Hill
AndyMan 7 #7 November 25, 2003 I had a bunch of people over on Canada Day, July 1st. We got nice and lit up on the rooftop, the guests left, and craichead was cleaning the kitchen. I joked "so this is what married life is like... you like it?" - refering to her cleaning the kitchen. She responded by saying "please, you're NEVER going to propose". So I did! Moral of the story? Good things happen when she cleans the kitchen. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
