mr2mk1g 10 #1 November 26, 2003 So far I have used mine as ID to: 1. Allow me to buy a new number plate (there wasnt a tick box for "skydiving licence" so they were unhappy accepting it but I talked them into putting it down as a "travel id"... well it allows me to travel up to altitude and back doesnt it? 2. Get into Chelmsford Prison last week on a legal visit. I hadnt taken any ID and would have been turned away if I handn't had my BPA licence in my car. So who else has made a none skydiving use of their card? Does a D-licence really entitle you to do enything you like?
cpoxon 0 #2 November 26, 2003 Just in case no one knows what Matthew is talking about, the BPA FAI licence has a page at the back with the text, "The Civil, Naval and Military Authorities, including the Police, are respectfully requested to aid and assist the holder of this certificate." in 6 different languages. I don't know if the USPA licence is equivalent? I did a search on the text and came across this German FAI Free Balloon Aviator Pilot Licence from 1912. It is remarkably similar, even down to the translations But I've never used mine as ID outside of a skydiving environment!Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

kpjumps 0 #4 November 26, 2003 Here's mine... I was driving my son to school one day, running late as usual. (He starts school at 7:15) I get pulled over in a school zone, the officer follows me through the drop off lane, lights flashing, and pulls into a parking spot after I dropped my son off. You can only imagine how embarrassed my 13 year old son was. In the rush to get out the door I didn't take my purse. So when he asks me for id I have to fess up, I left my purse at home. He asks if I know my DL number and yes, I do. I know I am in for one expensive ticket. Then he asks if there is anything with my name on it in the car. Sitting between the front seats is my log book and my USPA liscense. He had a few questions about skydiving and that was that. Got me out of that BIG ticket. (And it is only an A)Your character will ultimately determine your destiny.
