Darius11 12 #1 November 26, 2003 How important is it that your SO is a skydiver. I am single and kind of getting lonely. I was wondering really how important it is that she is not a whuffo. I am really new to the sport but ever second of my free time and all my future free time is going to be spent at a DZ. So let me know what your personal experience has been and why if it worked or doesn’t Thank you And every one have an awesome Thanksgiving.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
airdweller 0 #2 November 26, 2003 my wife is not a jumper, but her sister and future brother in law are, and our 3 year old really loves the dropzone, so she is understanding. However I have found this to be outside the norm a bit. Most wuffos get bored very quickly at a dz. This tends to cause friction. Either way, hope things work out for you.------------------------------------------------------ "From the mightiest pharaoh to the lowliest peasant, who doesn't enjoy a good sit?" C. PhreeZone 20 #3 November 26, 2003 There is absolutly no way that you can ever be happy with some one that is not a skydiver. No way, uh huh.. it just can't happen. Out of all the people in the world that are not skydivers not one will ever make you as happy as some random woman that is a skydiver. Any attempt to date a non skydiver will make it so it seems like you have a hollow existance and are living a meaningless life. Find a jumper to date or curl up under a rock and hide from the rest of the world that you have nothing in common with. JRock 0 #4 November 26, 2003 The girl I just met is interested in it... and wants to do a jump... and is willing to hang around it... so I guess if they are willing to accept the lifestyle and hanging around dz's...... then rock on!
AntiPinkChrissy 0 #5 November 26, 2003 I love the fact that my SO is a skydiver. We vacation together, at WFFC, Richmond etc. of course. We spend every weekend together at the dropzone. He is usually busy doing tandem videos but I manage to squeeze in a jump with him every once and a while. We usually do our own thing at the DZ on the weekends but share a beer together at the end of the evening. I absolutely love that fact that we share our passion in life together. I think having a whuffo for a SO pretty much comes down to, it works for some relationships and not for others. ~La La Gang Member #2~
McDuck 0 #6 November 26, 2003 Each person and each situation will be different. There really are no absolutes. I've seen couples at our DZ where one jumps and the other doesn't, and some where both jump. I've seen some with spouses or SOs that never come to the DZ, but it doesn't stop them from jumping. I suppose if there is a bottom line to this, it would be find someone that you enjoy spending time with and let them know about your skydiving. Invite them out, if they aren't already a skydiver, and if they stick around, then you know you've got a good start. Once they become a skydiver and they are still with you, you've reached nirvana. Nightingale 0 #13 November 26, 2003 well, since there are many more male skydivers than there are female... seems like the male skydivers are gonna have to learn to get along with female whuffos, or there will be a lot of single guys out there, or we're gonna have to form a polyandrous sky society, which would be kinda weird. simple math... girls have a lot more chance of finding a skyboy than guys have of finding a skygirl. lawrocket 3 #18 November 26, 2003 I agree, Nightingale. My finacee has never jumped. She has expressed interest, though. I don't care if she never jumps. She doesn't care if I do. She isn't a particular football fan. I am not particularly rabid about HGTV. But, somehow, we have enough in common to not have to worry about any of this "whuffo" stuff. If she jumps, great. If not, great! I think I've gotten past jumping dominating my thoughts. I've actually found something I love more. I found her. My wife is hotter than your wife. happythoughts 0 #20 November 26, 2003 Hey, you read Talkback, right? Do you want to sign up for this craziness in your personal life? Of course not. Sky-chickies would only spend your jump money. Find a nice whuffo and teach her how to pack. It is a bonus if she can make you a nice sammich.
