n2skdvn 0 #6 November 27, 2003 Just a little info on the shot its at a turtle farm in grand cayman. The guy holding the turtle was talking about that they don't think of the turtles as pets but as food.(its a staple down there) He's rubbing the turtles neck to keep it from flapping its flippers.if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN my site

What do they think it is? A opossum/armadillo? They are endangered, not like a gator! If they come to Texas, they can have all the turtles they want, red eared and such out of our lakes. They are plentiful.

That just prooves my suspicion that the "chicken fajitas" I had at the Lone Star Cafe in Grand Cayman were turtle meat. Just didn't quite "tast like chicken".The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
Antithesis 0 #9 November 27, 2003 The Green Iguana is protected too but it's a staple for these peoples diets. I understand all too well how native cultures put species at risk by personally working with the Giant leatherback seaturtle conservation programs in Costa Rica. Watching natives dig up nest sites for food.. It's discouraging But those things take time. One cannot change centuries of lifestyles with a few years of good intentions. n2skdvn 0 #10 November 27, 2003 A majority of the turtles are relesed into the wild only a small percent are used for food. Just so you knowif my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN my site
Antithesis 0 #11 November 27, 2003 I'm not against the farms.. Some farms infact are prohibited from releasing their turtles into the wild because (in some circumstances) the farm turtles will do more harm to the turtle gene pool than good I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky
