brittanyb 0 #1 March 30, 2011 I recently bought a reserve off of dropzone.com. I heading to the states in a few weeks and decided I would have it shipped to Sunrise. I received an email yesterday informing me that when the rigger went to pack my reserve he notice that the steering lines had been cut instead of properly removing the toggles. I immediately contacted the person who sold me the reserve to ask if they were aware of the state of the canopy previous to selling it to me. He responded No! These are the two emails following his response. Hi #%$@, I was told that Sunrise is going to repair the canopy without any additional charges. That is going above and beyond what is required of them, which I really appreciate. If that changes between now and when I pick up my gear I will let you know. My biggest concern is that you didn't notice that a key component of the canopy was damaged before selling it. I am thankful that I had you send it directly to Sunrise, if I had gotten it shipped to Canada I would have had to send it back to the U.S. to get fixed. There is always an element of fear associated with purchasing something you have never seen and blindly trusting a complete stranger, hopefully this won't ever happen to either of us again. I can only hope that next time you sell something you will do a thorough inspection of the gear before posting it on dz.com Brittany His response: Brittany: I had rigger disassemble everything and was not aware that anything was wrong. The canopy was not damaged and steering lines are a minor problem that any rigger is capable of replacing. All the best. My question is. Is this acceptable, am I over reacting? Am I correct in feeling slightly cheated by not being told the condition of the canopy before the transaction took place?
wildcard451 0 #2 March 30, 2011 Since the repair will be done for free, you're gonna be just fine since nothing else was wrong with he gear. Otherwise, the seller sounds like a turd.

Atleast it was a easy fix and not a gaping hole in a few cells. Don't know why a rigger would cut the lines, its not hard to untie the fucking knots."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
riggerrob 643 #4 March 31, 2011 Some knots are so tight that they are difficult to untie. However, this is a silly argument, because if you tie Spectra steering lines - according to PD's, Precision's, etc. manuals, you do not need to untie them to remove toggles. Even if Dacron steering lines are tied on tight, knots can be worked free - in a minute or two - with pliers. It is obivious that some bungling non-rigger removed the toggles THE HARD WAY and is trying to "BS" you. Have the reserve thoroughly inspected - by a MASTER RIGGER - before any money changes hands. If you love your fellow dz-commers, you will post the name of the seller to ensure that none of us ever do business with him again. P.S. It might be possible to get a CSPA Rigger B to do the repair. Is Dave Martin still rigging in Fredericton?
