skydivegirl 0 #1 December 2, 2003 Does anyone use klitetk.com? Is it actually legal or is that a bunch of crap? I'm kinda confused about what is legal and what isn't. I thought you had to pay per song on the legal sites. This one just has a one time fee. Thanks!Pink Mafia Sis #

Jimbo 0 #3 December 3, 2003 Kazza Lite is perfectly legal. Stealing copyrighted or otherwise protected material is not. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
Casch 0 #4 December 3, 2003 Yes, it's still illegal. But no one is going to sue you as long as you don't share your music. There is an option to turn off sharing, and to avoid searching for music from known RIAA servers. Unless you want to be a hard core music server and share 100 gigs of music on a huge connection, you shouldn't have to worry. By the way, I have kazaa lite and it's free for me
PhreeZone 20 #5 December 3, 2003 Don't count on it... The RIAA is able to get the connection logs so if you connect to their servers you can be named in future lawsuits now. Its not just the shareing parties that can be named anymore. One person in the first round was named as a major sharer and she only had 150 songs on the computer. How could it legal to pay $30 or what ever and be able to potentially download anything you want and never pay for it? Personally the RIAA can bite me and my music Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Casch 0 #6 December 3, 2003 I got so sick of all the shit, and got a new decent paying job, so now I'm buying CD's. The job was more of a catalyst for change then the RIAA's crap, but it didn't help that every time I downloaded a song I felt like I was being watched... Now I will download a song on occasion to see whether or not I like the musician/song and to decide whether or not I want the cd. Then I delete it, because it clutters my computer and my neato oragnization of my music. So far I have something like 80 full cds from about 70 different artists on my computer, all ripped from CD's that either I, my dad or my closest friends own

tinfoil 0 #8 December 3, 2003 Quote Kazza Lite is perfectly legal. Stealing copyrighted or otherwise protected material is not. - Jim Kazaa lite is in a strange place. While it is illegal what they did to Kazaa's software, the Kazaa software is designed for or at least facilitates illegal activities. See here. Also, Kazaa is a company that has put a lot of effort into avoiding laws. But happy thoughts to all those who live outside of the US. The RIAA is such a force in the US because they can a users info without first getting a subpoena from a judge. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. ifics 0 #9 December 3, 2003 I only want Kazaa Lite for movies/clips ect... Only bad part is I can't find a good version of it anymore. I don't trust some of the sites these days. If someone wants to send me the file though, that would be cool. Hint...cough..hint...hint
WFFC 1 #10 December 3, 2003 Quote Kazza Lite is perfectly legal. Not exactly...Kazaa Lite is not made by the Kazaa people and using it to access the 'network' that Kazaa created with anything but Kazaa is a violation of the Kazaa user agreement. smiles 0 #11 December 3, 2003 People steal and hack because they can. And because so many others join them in what is essentially a hard-to-track-and-prosecute crime (or so they think), the sheer numbers of illegal downloaders make bravado and brazen statements like "so sue me" easier to spout. Unfortunately, trying to rationalize the behavior of Jon Johansen and the millions of people who use KaZaa and eDonkey and earthstation5 and now, his tool, to pirate, and do so via sheer volume is just as stupid as claiming that lynching a black man was OK because the majority of white men in this country felt no misery in doing so. Jon Johansen is enjoying a brief respite from legal sanity. So are all music pirates. SMiles
Shotgun 1 #12 December 3, 2003 That site seems fishy because they don't allow you to read any sort of "User Agreement/Terms of Service" before giving them your name and email address...
