jeremyneas 0 #1 December 4, 2003 You've heard it in the movies, on tv, and now the new subway commercial. I'm sick and tired of hearing it so i'm joining the masses...from now on i'm calling the reserve ripcord... THE BACKUP CORD
DJatLarge 0 #2 December 4, 2003 30 sec after burning in... what would Jared do??? I actually like that ad. Maybe I'm weird, but I didn't do the freefall math right away after seeing it.
SkydiveNFlorida 0 #3 December 4, 2003 What are we talking about here? Is there a skydiving subway commercial? Angela.
Lee03 0 #4 December 4, 2003 Pretty funny commercial actually.-------- To put your life in danger from time to time ... breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities. --Nevil Shute, Slide Rule
TitaniumLegs 8 #5 December 4, 2003 90 seconds into a 12,000 ft night jump... I had to watch it again to make sure I heard it right. I'm convinced that most of these advertizing types don't consult with an actual skydiver. Unless, of course, they're trying to make a joke that only a jumper would get. Doubtful. freeflygoddess 0 #7 December 4, 2003 ok what about the honda commercial... I know it is nothing to do with skydiving but it still pisses me off... It is two guys strapped on a pretty bridge ready to bungie off of it and then they see a bunch of girls in bikinis at the bottom playing volley ball and getting coolers out of their Hondas, and instead of jumping they unstrap themselves and ride down to them... Um yeah, ok if I was one of those guys I still would have jumped and if I was one of those girls I would have been way more impressed that they jumped and then invited them over to join me and my girl friends. Geez..., now if I was doing that commercial I would have had the guys in some rigs and had them jump off to join in on the fun...that would have been a better commercial... ok I am just venting... pilotdave 0 #8 December 4, 2003 It's been discussed to death already, but i have no problem at all with the commercial. I think it's hilarious. Watch how many different "odd" activities get portayed in commercials. I doubt they ever consult with participants in any of those activities. The details don't matter. Everyone gets the point. Who the hell knows what a reserve ripcord is? Backup cord at least shows some level of knowledge of skydiving equipment, and is probably a whole lot more universally understood. No idea why they'd say 90 seconds, but again, who cares? Dave
Dagny 0 #9 December 4, 2003 Oh, FFG! I hated that commercial, too....something very .... not right about it! Hell, if I'd climbed on a rail of a bridge and prepared to jump from it, I would not be swayed by hotties playing volleyball. I'd definitely go for it. Then again, I'd be jumping a BASE rig, not a bungee cord....but that's me! Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali
