CanuckInUSA 0 #1 December 4, 2003 Well I knew this day was coming (so I shouldn't be surprised), but I was dealt my latest round of team politics/drama with my co-ed volleyball team last night. You see, I'm the captain of a team with two 6'5" guys, a girl who dates one of those guys who is our best female but is nowhere as good as she thinks she is (kind of like a skygod in our sport) and then two more girls (who have gotten better, but likely don't have the skill to proceed to the competitive levels). Anyway, my two towers are apparently very frustrated that the team is stuck in the challenge division instead of the competitive division (we're in the middle of three division skill levels) and they want to more up. But the league manager won't move us up as is (I hate to say it, but our females are holding us back). Now it's debatable as to whether or not I belong in comp. except to say that I am the scraper and hussler of the team, while the twin towers are the power. Well the two towers plus our better female wants to replace the other two girls and they say that they still want me on the team. But if this happens, the league will force me to give up the captaincy and in the future I can see myself being replaced as well (of course my future in Colorado is very much in the air to begin with what with my temporary resident status and the poor job market). So what should I do? I am a competitive type of person who strives at being challenged in sports, but this will also mean hurting two friends and set myself up to be possibly replaced. Of my three main sports I currently participate in, two are going through major drama stages (volleyball and skydiving). Hockey is the only sport, that allows me to be me without the politics and the drama. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
PhillyKev 0 #2 December 4, 2003 How about you leave and join a different team that is at the competetive level that you want?
