rehmwa 2 #9 December 9, 2003 QuoteQuoteThe Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, UnbelieverExcellent choice!! Agree, excellent. Especially the first 3. Also, The Dragon Reborn Series (Robert Jordan) and the "Sword of Truth" series (Terry Goodkind). They are similar plot lines, both good, the Goodkind series is a little more adult in the writing. Try the Julian May series starting with The Many Colored Land and the Golden Torc and ending with Jack the Bodiless. That's my favorite of all time. It's more SciFi than Fantasy though. 9 books total in the series. And the Gunslinger series (Stephen King). Even if you don't like King, this is still excellent and also a fantasy/western/adventure mix. For adults also. ... PhillyKev 0 #10 December 9, 2003 Another good one.....Dark Sword Trilogy Crap...now I'm remembering them all. Dragon Riders of Pern Incarnations of Immortality Belgariad Crap...there's another really good one, one of my favorites that I can't remember the name of or who wrote it. It was set in the desert, and they rode light beams with their mind...written by a woman....damn....ring a bell for anyone?

Chute 0 #12 December 9, 2003 Yes I have and read the 3 books on the Lord of the Rings. Plus the Hobbit. That is why I said the movie is true to the book. It was almost like the picture I had in my head when I READ them. Right now I am dwelled into a Ludlum series.Bottomless Beers and Blue Skies! * Brother_Brian * D.S.W.F.S.B. #

Those last two books sucked (especially the latest one). NOTHING happens, very dissapointing at his decision to stretch everything to make more money rather than bring it all to a good conclusion. BikerBabe 0 #14 December 9, 2003 Wheel of Time;Blech. Try these two, still unfinished, but waaaay better: George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire Series. A Game of Thrones is the first book. Very well written, gritty, and realistic in that sometimes the "Good guys" die and the bad guys win...very good intrigue set in a fantasy world. Janny Wurts' Wars of Light and Shadow. Curse of the Mistwraith is the first book in that one...it's got a pretty unique premise, and is well-written. Try them out. yes...I'm a geek. I'm going to Trilogy Tuesday, by the way. nyah nyah nyah!Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! McDuck 0 #15 December 9, 2003 As has been intimated here by the posting of other titles, there are so many literary wonders out there for questing minds that you cannot pick just one or two. Heck, you can't even pick just fifty! Each book/series has its own appeal and charm. I read books like snails leave slime trails. rehmwa 2 #23 December 9, 2003 Dixie/BikerB - Wheel of Time is getting very slow after a great start (1st 5 or 6) and he has alienated many of his customers with the last 4 moving slower and slower. I think one more book is out in February and if I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel at that point, I'm giving up on it. That's too bad because of the time invested in the series. There's a prequel also according to Amazon, if this is the next book, then I'm definitely stopping without reading it at all - Wasting time to write a prequel when losing your fan base is just stupid. Funny, the Gunslinger series King writes that at his initial rate on this series, it would have completed in just over 300 years (wrote this in his third books preface). Well, King has finished the story and the last two books of the 7(?) book series are scheduled for release. While guys like Jordan well I hoped he milked this one enough to retire on the royalties - I wouldn't start a new series with his name on it. ...
