'Teamspeak'

Recommended Posts

'Teamspeak' is one of those multi-user voice-over-ip programs - used mainly for gaming. I'm sitting here all rather bored, and it occured to me it might be quite cool to have a voice chat server where all the DZ.com'ers could come to chat 'in person' (as close as you could get on the 'net ;)) on a group voice chat program, as well as these great forums.

All you need is a microphone and speakers.. you can be on dialup or DSL, it still works fine.

If anyone would be interest, let me know. Got some spare space on one of my company's servers, with bandwidth we're paying for but not using, so it made sense to try and fill it up with something :)

Nick.

Yeah I guess you two are right.. would be odd speaking to people you don't know. But at the same time, it might be a good way to meet someone to start with.

Yeah, I've sent him a message.. no reply yet though :)

There is a program out there available for download called paltalk. its voice and video chat. I use it to talk to my brother in SD. The video cam is really great for me to see how big my 3 nephews are getting.

If anyone is interested, I got bored and installed the teamspeak server on my box, so if you download the client off www.teamspeak.org I'll leave the server up for the next 4 hours or so. Will shut it down at Midnight EST. I think I have it set to go properly. give it a shot if you get bored....and maybe my broadband will hold up. Server address is 24.125.43.46. Give your nickname and leave it as anonymous login.

edited for server corrections

I hate to talk on the phone so the compter is a big no for me.

Same here. I'd much rather type than talk.

That works well - most people would rather have you type. It's easier to ignore than when you speak and ramble on and on and on ..... :D
