AggieDave 6 #1 December 10, 2003 Yup, last night my girlfriend and I got back from Sherman (meet the folks crap yesterday, etc). Anyways, what I wanted to share was I averaged 17mpg on the highway coming back. That's the best I've ever gotten in my truck, including back when it had small tires and no lift. Basically a cold front was coming in, so we had a HUGE tail wind...yeah, cheating, I know, but I thought it was cool. Better then the 12-14mpg I usually get. I *could* sell my truck and get a Honda that has 1000mpg or whatever they get, but those are really shitty to take off road. And you can't haul anything with them.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
skymama 37 #2 December 10, 2003 Oh, who cares about the truck. How'd it go when you met the parents? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

AggieDave 6 #4 December 10, 2003 They like her, and they didn't go as wild asking questions as I was worried they'd do. I guess it all climaxed as mom and Morgan sat around looking at the pictures in the albums of me as a baby and a little boy.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." flyhi 24 #10 December 10, 2003 QuoteI *just* ordered one today. Sorry to hijack, but size, wingloading, what made you go Xfire2 vs the Vengeance you demo'd? IYO, if you jump a Vengeance, would a xfire be a step up or a step laterally? Where would you go after a V? Congrats on the parents:babe interaction. It doesn't happen all the time. Been on both sides of that one.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
AggieDave 6 #11 December 10, 2003 I was going to try to get the Vengence again so I could try it out after jumping the Xfire2, but got impatient and ordered the Xfire2. Basically, here's what I found (this is all IMHO). The Vengence is slower then a Xfire2 of the same size, but the stall speed is much lower on a Vengence. So really you're looking at two canopies that perform pretty similarly, although the Vengence has a longer recovery arc. All in all I was getting basically the same swoop distance on both canopies, but the Xfire2 seemed to dive faster, turn faster and swoop faster then the Vengence...it really made the Vengence seem a bit sluggish. Personally, I'm not a big fan of airlocks, I don't feel like dicking with them in windy conditions (after landing). Oh, ordered a 149, wingloading at just a hair under 1.9:1.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

You should've tried a Samurai....awesome canopy, and solid as a rock even in nasty turbulence. They're manufactured at PD, too, so it's basically a much improved version of the Vengeance.. PhreeZone 20 #13 December 10, 2003 >You should've tried a Samurai I'm replacing my Jedei with one of those next year. No one ever thinks to give Big Air a call and grab a demo from them. Its always either PD or Icarus... And Airlocks are super easy to "deal with" once you learn not to fly into still inflated airlocked canopies that are on the ground Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I do have problems collapsing it once i've landed, but other than that it's awesome. Too bad i gotta give it back to Michael. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! TribalTalon 0 #16 December 10, 2003 DUDE.. that reminds me of my 19th birthday party, i had a shitload of friends, my date, etc etc at this party, and my grandparents give me this huge framed collage of a bunch of naked pictures of me as a baby and little kid, sittin on the toilet, in the bath tub, stuff like that. i've NEVER been more embarrassed. i wanted to throw that piece of shit out of the window and burn it to ashes. gah. now its hidden in a safe location, i gotta get around to taking the pics out, i can still at least use the frame and stuff. hahaha. You've got me, though, I've only had 5 people in my truck once and it sucked BAD (well, for them atleast).
