PhillyKev 0 #1 December 11, 2003 Just saw a woman pushing a baby carriage, completel with baby. It was raining earlier today, which I guess is the reason for this idiocy. She had the entire baby carriage (baby included) encased in a sheet of clear plastic.

weegegirl 2 #4 December 11, 2003 are you sure it wasn't legitimately part of the baby carriage? you know they have those, it's kinda like an umbrella

PhillyKev 0 #6 December 11, 2003 Quoteare you sure it wasn't legitimately part of the baby carriage? you know they have those, it's kinda like an umbrella It was like a box shape plastic bag with elastic around the open end. It was enclosing the entire carriage with the elastic open end under the area the baby is in. There was probably a half inch of space around the edges of the plastic that if it shifted at all would have closed it off completely.
CrazyIvan 0 #7 December 11, 2003 But the champion is the one I saw last year in the NYC subway, she used the baby stroller WITH THE BABY IN IT, to hold the car door.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. PhillyKev 0 #10 December 11, 2003 Quotesounds like it was made for covering a carrige I don't know...don't shop for that stuff...but if I did, I wouldn't buy something that has a very real potential of KILLING the baby. Now I understand why they need those warnings on plastic bags telling people they are not toys.

lawrocket 3 #13 December 11, 2003 Actually, if there was duct tape, you'd know that the baby was completely safe from a biological or chemical attack. Prudent, proactive. What you saw was a fine example of a good young American patriot. My wife is hotter than your wife.
JAC 0 #14 December 11, 2003 I've seen legitimate contraptions like these in NY before, especially in the winter. I nearly freaked the first time I saw one. I refer to them as the bubble babies.
PhillyKev 0 #15 December 11, 2003 I don't see how this could be classified as legitimate. It may have been designed for that purpose...but the designer, and consumer are idiots.
FrogNog 1 #16 December 11, 2003 QuoteJust training the kid to deal well with hypoxia. Gonna make a great skydiver someday. Dave Actually, this would train the kid to deal well with carbon dioxide poisoning. The actual quantity of oxygen in that container will long outlast the point where the exhaled carbon dioxide concentration becomes fatally toxic. Unless this was in Denver. Then I'm not so sure. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
flighty 0 #17 December 11, 2003 Um I hate to break it to you, but these things are very common and perfectly safe unless your baby leaps out of the stroller, cuts a piece of the plastic off and tries to swallow it. I would worry much more about them being smothered by the blankets they are wrapped in than by this type of product. PhillyKev 0 #18 December 11, 2003 QuoteThe vinyl cover protects baby from both rain and snow, has sides that open for proper ventilation That would imply when the sides aren't open, it is NOT proper ventilation. It's a 10 cu.ft. air tight container (minus the volume of the baby and stroller). I don't know, seems dangerous to me. Maybe a quick trip down the block, the weather's bad, and you don't have a choice. First of all, it wasn't raining, and the sides on this thing were not open.
