jcjordan 0 #1 March 15, 2011 Hi guys, Having recently qualified, I'm trying to wring the dregs out of my student loan to spend on shiny kit. I still need to buy pretty much everything, but a helmet comes pretty high up on the list of priorities. Unfortunately for the aforementioned student loan, I'm also a paraglider pilot, and it's high time I bought a new gliding helmet too - obviously, the ideal would be to get one which I can use for both sports. The problem? I want a full-face helmet for paragliding and an open one for falling out of planes with. The solution (perhaps): http://www.plusmax.de/products/helmets/plusair.html Plusmax sell a removable chin guard to convert this 'un between full- and open-face, and market it as suitable for pretty much everything. Although they say it's a skydiving helmet, I haven't been able to find any mention of it in forums, online shops etc. Does anybody have any experience with the helmet, or opinions on whether it looks alright for skydiving? Any thoughts, ideas or ill-informed speculations gratefully received, Jamie
labrys 0 #2 March 15, 2011 That looks like a really nice helmet. The photo only shows a side view though. Any snag points on it? Edit to add clicky: http://www.plusmax.de/products/helmets/plusair.htmlOwned by Remi #?
dragon2 2 #3 March 15, 2011 Doesn't look like it has a place to put an audible in, something you'll want later on. If you want a cheap skydiving helmet, I'd get pro-tec, fairwind or equivalent (whatever your local skydiving shop sells), with HARD ears, so you have a place to put an audible inside. ciel bleu, Saskia
LouDiamond 1 #4 March 15, 2011 Have you looked at the Bonehead REvolve? It is both a full face and an open face. Remove the shield when you want an open face helmet and visa versa."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

That sounds like a recipe for never finishing college, or finishing with so much debt that you'll never climb out of the financial hole you're digging. DougH 270 #6 March 15, 2011 Exactly... rolling skydiving equipment in a 15-30 year student loan isn't the best situation. 15-30 year student loans, especially private loans with variable interest rates, such enough financially when financing college. Once you start financing other things with it the financial logic gets even worse!"The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
