kai2k1 0 #1 December 12, 2003 If you could move anywhere in the US after a divorce, (no kids) no worries. Where would you go?? I may be facing this situation very soon and would like opinions?? bendywendy 0 #6 December 13, 2003 Quotewell... I would move to Sebastian good luck Good call!! I really liked visiting the south west but I have to say that south east is pretty easy living. Gas is about 50 cents a gallon cheaper here, rent is cheaper, no marine layer - you can actually see the sun if we are comparing coastline to coastline. And if you move to Sebastian you've got about 6 or 6 other kick-ass dropzones within easy driving distance. You can do first load in Sebastian, Hit Lake Wales or Titusville and Deland for midday and still make sunset load at Z-hills.

RkyMtnHigh 0 #8 December 13, 2003 Been there ...done that! It bites! I feel your pain.. But remember...everything good or bad happens for a reason..just a stepping stone to where you're ultimately supposed to be! So...I'd go to San Diego! _________________________________________
flyinghonu 0 #9 December 13, 2003 I live in San Diego (and it is probably the next best thing to Hawaii) but it is sooooooo expensive. Gas is currently sitting at about $1.70 a gallon. Rent in downtown San Diego - well they should just tap your blood. Drivers SUCK! But the DZ rocks. Also, think there are a butt load of truck driving jobs in So Cal (probably not too many in HawaiiFor best cost of living and a good job market (and yes, some hot chicas) try AZ - I hear their DZs are awesome as well. Good luck and try to stay positive. "Excuse me while I kiss the sky..." - Jimi Hendrix
themitchyone 0 #10 December 13, 2003 Sorry about your situation. Sending hugs and vibes. I can't give you advice about the southeast, but I love Southern California. It may not be the best value, but having all of the different environments within an hour's drive (mountains, beach, desert, dropzones...) can't be beat. -M"If the Bible has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girl's sports such as hot oil wrestling and foxy boxing." - Homer Simpson

skybytch 273 #15 December 13, 2003 Dunno... but I'll bet there are in either Melbourne (20 minute or so drive north) or Vero (20 minute or so drive south). Having lived in southern California.... I'd recommend moving here. Everything is cheaper, the (whuffo) locals seem a lot nicer and there are far fewer "cookie cutter" housing developments and strip malls. Plus the scenery here is beautiful. But... I hope things improve with your relationship so you don't have to move anyplace.

SkydiveNFlorida 0 #22 December 13, 2003 I don't know. Personally, I wouldn't move to Sebastian. I suppose to me, it is just too small a town to be happy living in, and it kinda has a funky sulfur water smell when people are watering their lawns. But, i'm a city girl, so take that into consideration. Orlando is cool, it's cheap, and you have lots of dzs in driving distance. I live right outside of Ft. Lauderdale, and I like it pretty well here. I wouldn't go too much farther south. I think Palm Beach is nice:) If I could move, it would have to be somewhere warm. Hawaii is sounding nice:) Sorry to hear of your situation, hope it turns out for the best. Angela.
FrogNog 1 #23 December 13, 2003 QuoteGas is currently sitting at about $1.70 a gallon. Not that bad. I think the Puget Sound area is only a half-dozen cents below that. And we don't have any clear skies in the Winter, or more than 9 hours between sunrise and sunset. (If there is sunrise and sunset; most December days I can't tell. ) -=-=-=-=- Pull. McDuck 0 #24 December 13, 2003 Ah, NOW we venture into territory I'm more familiar with. I just did that about two years ago. The divorce happened a bit earlier than that, but the move was prompted by my desire to start over and get away from the part of the country I had been living in. The bottom line is, move where you will feel comfortable. I moved to the southeast to be closer to my father, who I never really got to spend much time with growing up. If you have family and think you would be happier for a time being closer to them, move someplace near them that you can tolerate. If you don't have any family you would enjoy living near, find someplace that suits your temperament and temperature preferences. Life is too short to not be happy. flyangel2 2 #25 December 13, 2003 Rick, since you drive a truck, why not just travel and work? I don't know much about the living situation with the cab of the truck, but isn't there enough room in some of them to making it a little living space? You could continue to work, but now you'll be getting paid to travel. Think of the places you could see, and all the different DZs you can stop at. Working your schedule so that you are at the different boogies. Sending lots of vibes your way my friend.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.
