nightjumps 1 #1 December 15, 2003 All, About three years ago, I realized there was no scr-awards website so folks could review the history, download applications, etc. I spoke with Bill Newell (BBMSC Administrator) and agreed to develop the website in MS Frontpage to keep it simple while he learned some computer skills. At that point, I would migrate the responsibility for the site, updates, changes, aesthetics, etc. to him. Some issues have prevented him from being able to take over this responsibility. Another skydiver added an MS Access database for awardee updates and has been adding them. It was his intention to create a form so that Mr. Newell could input the names of awardees as they occured. However, he got a new techie job which keeps him on the road for a considerable amount of time. Bottom-line... If anyone would like to review and redo the website to bring it up to a newer more "splashier" website using javascript and graphics, please review the site at: www.scr-awards.com There is no remuneration for this project other than giving back to skydiving and an addition to your web portfolio. The URL is paid for and the website hosting is free. The only thing I would have to do is give you the permissions to access the site and you could let your creative juices flow. Think about it and let me know. If you are interested, please contact me with some links to work you've done for review. I will then pass it on to Bill Newell. Edited to add: Whomever chooses to do it will have complete creative & technical ownership. What they choose to use will be their decision.
Nightingale 0 #2 December 15, 2003 if you don't get any other volunteers, I could probably tweak it a bit for ya. www.nightingalesnest.net
nightjumps 1 #3 December 15, 2003 Thank you, Kris. I think Mr. Newell is looking for a new version rather than tweaking the FrontPage.
Nightingale 0 #4 December 15, 2003 I can redo it for you with some nicer colors and graphics, and some javascript rollover buttons/navbar if you like. would probably only take me a couple of hours. give me a better idea of what you're looking for and I'll know more. I can't do flash or anything too fancy yet, but I can make sure you have a nice looking, easy to navigate site with a few bells and whistles.

AggieDave 6 #6 December 15, 2003 Quotesome javascript rollover buttons/navbar if you like. Please don't. IMHO, that's the hallmark of bad webdesign. Never mind that Jscript really slows down the browser's speed and the page's reaction time. Do it right, with PHP or ASP, or even use flash.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Nightingale 0 #7 December 15, 2003 then you do it. I don't know how to do that stuff yet. I offered if he couldn't find someone better.
AggieDave 6 #8 December 15, 2003 I wasn't trying to belittle you and your offer, I was trying to make a point about web design. Actually, anymore I refuse to do any webdesign, I've done too much of it and I actually 100% hate doing it. Until recently, I had been doing professional web design since 1994, using everything from your basic HTML to ASP, SQL databases providing the ASP front end with info, Flash, java and javascript. My point is I know webdesign and I was just trying to prevent a bad choice in using javascript.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
