EricaH 0 #1 December 16, 2003 So, looking to buy a digi cam. I know the good brands here in the US; but am willing to look outside. (there's excelent stuff other places) So there's the Tekxon brand. Everything seems to be in Chinese or from Australia. Tried Google & Yahoo looking for a review - NOTHING (at least in english anyway). anyone heard of this brand? Have any comments? There's teh TX5000 & the new TX 520 (for which I can't find any info). There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. AndyMan 7 #2 December 16, 2003 I would without a doubt ignore any unknown brands from far off places. There are good places online I can recomend to get well known brands cheaply. Check out www.dbuys.com and www.bhphotovideo.com _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

You may end up getting a good deal on a camera and getting screwed with shipping, or have the thing fall apart on ya!!! EricaH 0 #5 December 16, 2003 Typically this is true. However, here in the US our market is very limited on some digital/electronic equipment. Going overseas & seeing all the other brands that work wonderfully if not better than ours makes me wonder bout sticking to a well known-over priced brand popular here just cause it's popular here. We may think that we rule the world here in the US, but in this arena, we are def not necessarily #1. I know the good cameras here in the US, for 2 - 3X the cost of other brands. Thank you Paige, but I don't need those responses. Perhaps I should have waited & posted this when Pacific residents start to wake up. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. AndyMan 7 #6 December 16, 2003 While the people in the pacific can tell you what a camera is like, what they can't do is tell you what the service behind that camera is like when you're calling from America. If you go through Cameras like I do, this is the single biggest problem you'll have. These cameras are usually sold in a "grey market", and while they're cheaper you're often on your own when it comes to service and support. You're literally rolling a dice that everything works fine. Frequently they don't. Have had to send in both my video and digital still camera, and they were both high end. Another really good resource for finding deals in digital cameras is http://www.dpreview.com/. Use that website to find a camera in the pricerange you want. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

taln1rigr 0 #8 December 16, 2003 Just PMd ya with some info ... Consumer Reports is a good start if you decide to stay state-side & go mainstream. I just read about that Gray Market thing that AndyMan touched on ... Consumer Reports covered it pretty well. Hope this helps ya Happy Holidays Chica! EricaH 0 #9 December 16, 2003 Hm, interesting concept - grey market. Hadn't thought o' it. Or on servicability. I don't go through cameras @ all. This'll be my fist one in years. Typically, a 35mm roll would cover 4 years! That's why I don't want to spend a load. But now I'm sick of buying disposable & taking it to be developed & paying to have it put on CD just so I can download it. That's if I REMEMBER to swing by the store to pick one up. pds 0 #13 December 16, 2003 sony. now is dsc-f717. the feature set is great. takes wonderful pictures from all kindsa funky angles. best buy has it on sale for 799 and sony has a 100 rebate - so 699. cannot beat that. be sure to get the 'performance' warrantee just in case you give your camera a bath.namaste, motherfucker. EricaH 0 #14 December 16, 2003 Will keep that warranty in mind. However, I don't want to spend over $300... thus the foreign mkt idea. will wait a few more years I guess. There is no can't. goose491 0 #16 December 16, 2003 What the hell? From the second page you posted Andy. How is it possible that they are selling the PC105 for $999.95.... but also selling the PC105 with all those accessories for $899.95 ? Think it's a mistake? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
AndyMan 7 #17 December 16, 2003 The higher price - 999 for the 105 is probably a mistake. That same camera is available on dbuys for $737. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
