Guest #1 December 17, 2003 Boeing was at $25 back in April, closed today at almost $40... Wonder if this means I'll get a job? mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Guest #5 December 17, 2003 QuoteDo you have recall rights? Nope. Since I was Non-Salaried Payroll (NSP) and wasn't a member of a union, I've got squat. mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
Guest #6 December 17, 2003 Quote Are you still sitting on your lazy ass? Actually, I'm in school 4 hours a day thru April (Microsoft MCDBA). mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
Gawain 0 #7 December 17, 2003 QuoteBoeing was at $25 back in April, closed today at almost $40... Wonder if this means I'll get a job? mh Hope so, but tread carefully. Boeing is dangerously close to losing nearly all rights to bid future military contracts, is likely to lose the KC-135 replacement program (leased 767s), already on hold. Also, the 7E7 isn't a shoe-in. Boeing has to keep development costs below $8B. That will not be an easy feat, considering the 777 wound up being over $12B in development (nearly twice the budget). They better get a damned good new CEO and CFO. I want only the best for Boeing, Airbus isn't playing on a level playing field and Boeing finds itself playing catch-up. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Well, the thing about Boeing is that it's so diversified now that the gov't can't really punish it too much in the military department. There will be some bluster on Capitol Hill, and then it'll die down, especially after the politicos hear from their constituents. Boeing has operations in 28 states, IIRC. There'll be some hearings, and Boeing will get its pee-pee slapped, and they'll move on. But you're right about the playing field being uneven wrt Airbus. I could trounce my competition if my company was subsidized on the backs of the taxpayers of four industrialized nations too. The geopolitical situation certainly hasn't helped the #1 exporter in the US to sell its product abroad. mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Gawain 0 #9 December 17, 2003 You know, this brings up another question, why isn't it the 787 or the 797? They had a couple of model numbers left to work with...
