McDuck 0 #1 December 12, 2003 I got my beloved a Z-1 as an early Christmas present and gave it to her early so she wouldn't have to wear that darn hockey helmet (she was quite an interesting sight). Now I'm looking to get it custom airbrushed for her, but all my attempts at finding out "what she likes" with regard to artwork for an unspecified (to her) project have been in vain. All I've been able to get out of her is that she likes planes (she's a pilot). I'm having "Cora's Own" done across the front (her name is Corazon..."Cora's Own"...get it?), but I need some ideas for artwork for the rest of it. I'm finding I'm not as good in the zero-hour as I usually am. Any suggestions?Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. jsaxton 0 #3 December 12, 2003 What kind of planes is she qualified for? That might be a good starting point.

McDuck 0 #6 December 12, 2003 It's a white Z-1...so I'm guessing clouds might not work. McDuck 0 #8 December 12, 2003 I know that's the rational thing to do, but I LOVE giving her surprises. Therein lies the rub. Nightingale 0 #9 December 12, 2003 so when you bring it back to her, surprise her with a dozen roses and fill the helmet with hershey's kisses or do something else sickeningly sweet.
McDuck 0 #10 December 12, 2003 Now THAT sounds like something along the lines of my style. Thanks. whatever 0 #13 December 12, 2003 no problem, always a pleasure to bounce some ideas around I'd be most honoured if you went with that idea, but whatever you do, if you do have it painted, you'll have to post pics! soon to be gone
McDuck 0 #14 December 12, 2003 Oh, you can bet I'll post pics. I'm leaning toward the artificial horizon idea right now. McDuck 0 #15 December 17, 2003 Okay, I have an update on the helmet air-brushing. I haven't actually picked it up yet, but the guy had some really awesome artwork and seemed as if he could accomplish what I was after. I'll post pics as soon as I get it, but her helmet is supposed to have "Cora's Own" (a play on her name, Corazon) across the front, then a silhouette of a head-down freeflyer with cloud patterns off in the distance (down the sides and back of the helmet). The artist also explained to me that he has always wanted to skydive and was surprised that the price for AFF was as cheap as I quoted him. I gave him a bumper sticker and pointed him in the right direction. Who knows, maybe our DZ will have its own airbrush artist/skydiver soon. McDuck 0 #16 December 18, 2003 Here are the pics of the completed helmet. It turned out better than I thought, and she LOVESit! I had to give it to her as an early Christmas gift for TWO reasons, not the least of which being that she needs it to skydive this weekend, but also because I LOVE giving gifts and I don't feel the need to wait for a holiday. The first thing that came to my mind after you mentioned she was a pilot is getting a tasteful pin-up girl ... you know the ones they painted on the aircraft during war ... maybe one that closely resembles her (hair color, etc) Vargas Had some great looking pin-ups Of course there's always Marilyn Monroe There's always the naughtyBetty Page George Petty did some really cool stuff It's something I'd love ... but then I can imagine what a conversation piece it would become & I'm so very social Good Luck! Dawn P.S. Post a pic of whatever you decide ... I love the "Cora's Own" thing ... its fabulous!

McDuck 0 #23 December 18, 2003 Thank you to everyone! She really loves it. In fact, she comments on it every time she passes by it...we have it displayed on our dining room table. Just seeing her face light up when she took it out of the helmet bag was gift enough for me. Oh, and if you look at the picture upside-down, you can see that the plane and the freeflyer are oriented properly.
