I read the books before I saw the first movie, but that was because I knew the movies were coming out and I wanted to see what all the fuss was. A lot of people I know have never read the books, which I think really helps you get a deeper appreciation of the films. Some people (troglodites) that I know think the whole idea is stupid, and don't even want to see the films or read the books.... How bout you guys?
