Think I need a new hard drive ??

Recommended Posts

Take a listen to this sound coming from my hard drive. It's a maxtor 46GB drive about 3-4 years old. I think it's about time to retire this drive. And no, it's not a system drive, just a scratch drive for CD burning and Video editing.

what, you work for the dealer or something? a llittle grease and/or wd40 will fix that right up, no parts required. :D

seriously though, i was having hard drive problems and a friend suggested i put it in the freezer overnight. i took it out, put it in a zip lock baggie and into the freezer. put it back in in the morning and it's been running fine ever since! give it a go, it's free.

Y'know, that's the second time I've heard of that in the last few months. The guy who told me about it tried it and it worked for long enough to get his data off of the old drive. Beats me what it does for it but regardless what you do in the future, back up your data now!

Blue skies and happy landings!
