bshl 0 #1 December 23, 2003 Sorry, but I don't understand. 1. How do you get out of your rig? 2. How do you get back in? 3. Why??? Blue skies and happy landings!

vdschoor 0 #3 December 23, 2003 QuoteSorry, but I don't understand. 1. How do you get out of your rig? 2. How do you get back in? 3. Why??? Because your name is Greg Gasson? And because it looks really cool on pics and video.. Think like this: He was never in his rig.. he exited the plane without wearing it! Getting back in, is just a matter of climbing back in.. By the way.. you can't see this in the pic, but he had some "help" A special rig, that's under his suit. Iwan
sdgregory 0 #4 December 23, 2003 Actually you can see it just fine if you look at his arm. There is no way his arm could be shaped like that and stong enough to hold him up. There is a strap that goes up his arm. Still what a bonehead. It sure does look cool though
Nightingale 0 #5 December 23, 2003 look very carefully at the arm holding the rig. you can see the cable under the jumpsuit attaching him to it.

vdschoor 0 #7 December 23, 2003 Quote Still what a bonehead. It sure does look cool though I dunno, I think he knew very well what he was doing. He was using docile canopies (Spectre 230 or 260's) and probably climbed into his rig well above 3000 feet. I don't know how well all of this would have gone in case of a mal, but I might just ask him that in Eloy I think it is a real cool stunt, and I don't think this was a stunt just for the hell of it.. sdgregory 0 #8 December 23, 2003 Yeah well I want to see the video of him climbing back into his rig.
Brains 2 #9 December 23, 2003 QuoteYeah well I want to see the video of him climbing back into his rig. Then buy the dvd "Goodstuff" Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
FrogNog 1 #10 December 23, 2003 QuoteQuoteYeah well I want to see the video of him climbing back into his rig. Then buy the dvd "Goodstuff" In "Good Stuff", if Greg has a rig under his clothes, it's a pretty good hiding job. He jumps rigless in jeans and a t-shirt (I think long sleeve), and he not only hangs from it with two hands, and one hand, but by his (bare) feet. I'm not saying he doesn't have some backup equipment, I'm just saying if he does, it's hidden very well. And personally I think the guy's a nutter. I hope to meet him one day. Edited to add: but his having a backup connection would answer one question I've always had: how does he hold on during terminal opening, and what the hell would he do if he had a slammer? "Just die" is not cool! -=-=-=-=- Pull.

"Just die" is not cool! That's what went through my mind when I started reading that he wasn't wearing it to start with. Seems like that just about guarantees a dislocated shoulder. At best. Edited to add: Oh, yeah. And what about his emergency handles? And don't tell me he's such a stud he doesn't need them. Blue skies and happy landings! Nightingale 0 #12 December 24, 2003 if you look at the jumpsuit, you can see the wire down his arm goes all the way down to his torso. he's probably got some kind of harness underneath.
bshl 0 #13 December 24, 2003 Quoteif you look at the jumpsuit, you can see the wire down his arm goes all the way down to his torso. he's probably got some kind of harness underneath. How's he get to it, though? If the "handheld" is a malfunction, does he casually do a little strip tease? I guess I'm just dense... Blue skies and happy landings! adamT 0 #14 December 24, 2003 The harness is attached to the rig in his hand, so he can stay with it through opening. It isn't a second rig if that is what you were thinking. Getting to the handels in a mal would be a problem as far as i can tell. But he does open really high and probably packs nice a careful. Good Stuff is definitely a must have dvd.
