pchapman 279 #26 February 19, 2011 Quote In conclusion: the new Strong Tandem prototype looks promising and is long-overdue. Is the reserve freebag more "conventional", or does it still have the bungees, tubular plastic chokers and all that? (It has been a long time since I last saw a Strong tandem reserve.) riggerrob 643 #27 February 22, 2011 Old Strong Dual Hawk Tandem free-bags use still use bungees with chokers. I am so old that I can remember when that bungee configuration was fashionable on MAIN d-bags, in Southern California! Hah! Hah! It seems that bungee cord lasted five times longer with abbrasive Dacron suspension lines. I cannot remember what the new Strong Tandem uses. Racer uses a bunch of MIL SPEC rubber bands to hold its "Speed Bag" closed. Sigma is the only American tandem manufacturer that still uses Safety-Stows made of bungee cord. It helps that line stows are "balanced" on their Safety-Stow, but it still amazes me that a little bungee cord holds their free-bag closed during the heavy weights and high speeds or military freefall. In comparison, many military HAHO jumpers now feel the need for a double-bag to reliably deply their mains!
danielcroft 2 #28 February 23, 2011 Are the SE Air Anchor videos online anywhere? I couldn't find any on youtube or on SE's website. Thanks for your comments btw.
