DeNReN 0 #1 December 30, 2003 Well.......All I ever ask of a movie is to entertain me....this movie did that.....It gets a weird thumbs up from me and a 3/4 thumbs up from the G/F...refreshing. Has anyone else seen it??...like or dislike?
quade 4 #2 December 30, 2003 Light summer popcorn but nothing more. I really liked some of the design elements. In particular, anything having to do with the Nautilus was simply beautiful -- designwise. I could not, however recommend it to my friends. The story just was too awkward.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
kai2k1 0 #3 December 30, 2003 I liked it, but the ending was kind of weird. I guess there will be a sequel? There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
DeNReN 0 #4 December 30, 2003 "Light summer popcorn but nothing more." good description...but you failed to answer the Q like or dislike? Kai...they did seem to set up for a second one....and the whole movie was quite odd.....I think thats what I liked about it....
quade 4 #5 December 30, 2003 I only recommend movies I like. This movie did not rise to that standard.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Brodes 0 #6 December 30, 2003 Go watch the original movie for something different
 DeNReN 0 #7 December 30, 2003 "Go watch the original movie for something different " ???????? Quade....well now we know you won't reccomend it....but is it on the dislike list? Edited to add: did it entertain you?
 quade 4 #8 December 30, 2003 What original movie? You mean the seven or so original movies from which the characters of this one come from? (Wow. Awkward sentence structure huh?) Anyway, no, I didn't HATE it. It's not as bad as say, Battlefield Earth.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
 indyz 1 #9 December 30, 2003 I can't stand historical inaccuracies. Stuff that should be easy to spot, like the fake German soldiers wearing World War II uniforms in 1899. Or the hanger full of Zeppelins, again in 1899. The story didn't do much for me either. The Alan Moore comic version was much better.
 DeNReN 0 #10 December 30, 2003 HeHe...now were getting on the right track Indyz...shall I put you down as a dislike?
 quade 4 #11 December 30, 2003 Ok, take a deep breath. This movie was based on a comic book. It's about fictional characters. It's not supposed to be historically accurate, just believable within the context of the make believe universe they've set up for themselves. For instance, a light saber, how's that supposed to work anyway? Well, you can't make one really, but we accept it within the context of the film Star Wars. What IS unacceptable is a car chasing through streets(?!?) in Venice when Nazis are on rooftops waiting for the car to drive by so they can shoot at it. Doesn't matter what street either, they -all- have Nazis on top of them. See, THAT doesn't make any sense whatsoever.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
 DeNReN 0 #12 December 30, 2003 There was a light sabre???.....damn...next time I'll pause when I go pee pee
 indyz 1 #13 December 30, 2003 I'm only willing to suspend my disbelief so far. The Phantom can build all those machines? Fine. The Nazi costumes just really bugged me for some reason. And besides, I said I liked the comics. I really, really, love Alan Moore's work on Swamp Thing in the 80s. Talk about suspension of disbelief. That, and I'm pretty sure that Venice was built on a swamp, not on top of stone columns in deep enough water to run a submarine in.
 indyz 1 #20 December 30, 2003 I wasn't especially entertained. It goes back to the suspension of disbelief thing. If the story is good, I can conveniently forget that Superman looks just like Clark Kent but without glasses and Lois must be a moron to not see it. On the other hand, if the story is bad, I can't suspend my disbelief nearly as well and all of those little things just make the experience that much worse. I think I was more fascinated with seeing several literary characters I had read as a child come together in one story. The Nautilus was exquisitely beautiful, but it really didn't look like it could ram into ships and sink them as the one in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was described as being able to accomplish. I forgave the creative liberties taken to make the story more intriguing. I DO have the mentality of a child, though.
