Taxes....

You would have the Republican Party, and the three people left in the other parties.

Let's not get all partisan. Can't we all just agree to hate having to pay taxes universally? Especially since government spending is higher since GWB came to power. Just because he's doing it on credit doesn't mean we won't have to pay for it at some point later. Like when a Democrat gets in office and fixes the debt for us but gets blamed for raising taxes.

Fixes the debt? Good one. Raising taxes is not the answer to debt reduction, smaller government and low taxes is (not that either party seems interested in that right now).[:/]

Only if we agree as to WHY the taxes are so high.
#1 reason taxes are so high - Programs to give incentive for people not to work.

Getting money back that is rightfully yours, but that the government has "held onto for you" for the past year isn't getting paid--it's getting screwed.

Definition:

Intaxication - the feeling of euphoria that you get when you receive your refund check. It subsides about the point that you realize it was your money to begin with. :D

Disclaimer - For people from Georgia who didn't go to the 12th grade, it's not a real word. ;)

#2 reason - pork barrel vote buying schemes, or "bringing home the bacon", by damn near every congressman out there, in either party

I'm self employed and have to make estimated tax payments four times a year. I know how much I pay and it sucks to see people on welfare abusing the system when I bust my ass to pay for them to not work and to breed the next generation of welfare recipients.

Reason number pre-1.

Schemes to line the pockets of the elite through corporate tax breaks and subsidies to corporations with government ties.

Yeah..no spin with you. Welfare is definitely an incentive not to work...

The two largest welfare programs -- by far -- are Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) and food stamps. In 1992, the average yearly AFDC family payment was $4,572, and food stamps for a family of three averaged $2,469, for a total of $7,041. (1) In that year, the poverty level for a mother with two children was $11,186. (2) Thus, these two programs paid only 63 percent of the poverty level, and 74 percent of a minimum wage job.
