skybytch 273 #51 December 14, 2003 That is indeed good news. A big thank you and congrats to all involved in making it happen. Hope this hastens the day that all the coalition troops can return home.
ChasingBlueSky 0 #52 December 14, 2003 QuoteQuoteHopefully this is the beginning of the end of our troops stay in Iraq. Oh, we can only hope. What a wonderful Christmas present for our troops. While they won't be home yet, this will have to be a less stressful Holiday for them, knowing their efforts are paying off and that this whole mess could soon be over. GOD bless our Military!! THANK you for an EXCELLENT job! We haven't even made a dent in rebuilding Afghanistan, and from the reports I have heard over the last week, we have barely made a dent in Iraq (partially due to the attacks). I doubt that our troops will be coming home any time soon - in fact, I can see the US having a presence there and in Afghan for several more years. You can't bomb a country into submission then waltz out less than a year later. BTW - guess this means our intelligence for that "Decapitation attack" to try to kill Saddam last year was wrong._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Oh yeah we showed pictures of that too. Love those double standards. "Truth is tough. Hooknswoop 19 #55 December 14, 2003 QuoteI hope they let the Iraqi people try him! From CNN: Adnan Pachaci, a member of the Iraqi Governing Council, said Saddam would be tried for his crimes against Iraqis, and would be tried by Iraqis. "The terrorist, Saddam Hussein, the biggest terrorist on earth, has been arrested," said Hamid Ali al-Kifaey. "He will be tried before a special court in Iraq soon. With his arrest the Iraqi people will begin a new life, and hopefully they will have a democratic and pluralistic system and no more mass graves, and no more Saddam Hussein and no more terrorism." Looks like that is exactly what will happen. And in reply to making Iraq a U.S. territory, no, Iraq will not belong to the U.S. Nice job troops. I just saw this on tv. and the best part is that this is about the best possible outcome... if we would have killed him, or never found him, I think things would be worse off for our troops. Muenkel 0 #60 December 14, 2003 Why must you look at the negative on this? This capture is not partisan. It is a victory for all civil human beings with the Iraqi people being first in line. Why can't we all just rejoice in this day? Chris _________________________________________ Chris

President will be talking in about 15 minutes. That should be quite enlightening. It is a victory for all civil human beings with the Iraqi people being first in line. Why can't we all just rejoice in this day? Chris Why? I don't find this a day to rejoice. This is just part of the process, this is not about American pride, etc.....this is about helping a country get back on its feet, and I am looking at the bigger picture and the long run. I don't bite on "breaking news" anymore - I more concerned with what happens next. I'm tired of Americans getting killed in a country that we possibly shouldn't even be in....and I am concerned that GWB and those he keeps company with will spend more time coming up with ways to capitalize on the death of Americans, and use this as a campaign tool. I don't see victory - this was never about victory but liberation. I don't see mission accomplished because Iraqi's still live in fear. I'm proud of the dedication of our American troops, as well as the rest of the coalition forces that put their lives on the line to help with this rebuilding. That feeling and support is as strong today as it was yesterday before this capture - nothing has changed for me with his capture, and I don't feel more American because of it. When you are losing a football game by nine touchdowns, do you celebrate when you get one - or do you concentrate on getting another? Which is the better way to spend you energy and effort?_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... bodypilot90 0 #68 December 14, 2003 QuoteI also find it interesting that the timing of his capture happens just days after GWB apparently started his campaign for next year are you saying we waited to pull him in till now? I find that a long shot at best, given he was being moved every few hours. Glad we got him alive and hope he'll soon meet up with the same people he ruled over. I hope free people of Iraq find a hard slow death for that sob.
