I know what we can call those hunters in a lions den..."lunch" i can see hunting deer for food( i have a few friends that do) but killing an animal for sake of killing it , thats utter stupidity.

I was surprised the lion didn't keep attacking. I'm no expert on animal behavior, but I assumed he would have at least went after another hunter or at the very least keep attacking the one man until he killed him. To attack and then run away was odd.

Any animal experts here to help me understand?

Well I don't know what caused the hunting but I do know people often react much to quickly to what they see.
Lion permits are not just given in most area's and the most likely cause for this hunt was a problem beast possibly even a man eater, but I guess that's what them folks get for living on the same continent as then lions.

I don't think the lion actually ran away.. I thought it fell in the brush.. I don't believe it kept attacking because it had been shot through the back of the neck / head by that head on shot..

I'm with you all the way. I used to train big cats like that, and I think we either need to strip those bastards down to their skivvies and smear them with raw hamburger and see how they fare out there against another lion, or arm the lions with semi-automatic weapons. You know, just to keep it fair.
