They'll start a thread with either an inane, ludicrous, asinine or pointless topic merely to stir up trouble. They are also fond of starting overly-controversial subjects to try to get people to fight (i.e. "My mother just admitted she is gay. Do you think that means the dinners she cooks me will cause cancer?") or to otherwise wreak their own trollish havok. Their responses to legitimate posts are generally childish, as the average troll tends to be 8-15 years old, mentally if not biologically. Infrequently, trolls are just misguided regulars who have lost their way and find the troll path to be the one of least resistance to them. Once apprised of their troll status, these lost ones will generally see the light and resume semi-coherent posting & post-whoring. Trolls are a nuisance only if you feed them. If you ignore them, they lose strength and find greener pastures to sully with their mere presence. THey're lonely and looking for attention (albeit the wrong way). I feel bad for them in a way. Not enough to 'feed them' mind you - but it helps me to keep it in perspective to not instigate. When I feel myself wanting to lash out and explain at great length the vagaries of their heritage as defined by their misanthropic posts, I just remember that confusion runs most rampant in those whose lives are filled with stife at an early age.
