wmw999 2,589 #1 December 31, 2003 Story on CNN - Americans fingerprinted when they enter Brazil When Americans visit Brasil, they have to pay a $100 visa fee, and beginning at the new year, will have to be photographed and fingerprinted. Sound unreasonable? Pure reciprocity. It´s what we charge Brazilians, and what we will be doing to them at the beginning of the year. Folks, if you don´t think you´d like waiting in line for that, why exactly should others enjoy it? Because America is special enough to enjoy putting up with that crap? Jimbo 0 #2 December 31, 2003 Sounds reasonable to me. How many Americans visit Brazil each year? I never thought of it as a hot travel spot, but that could just be me. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
EricaH 0 #3 December 31, 2003 Well, that's not going to help the boogie down there coming up soon.... even w/ the $700 plane ride I was thinkin of going... not now. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)
mr2mk1g 10 #4 December 31, 2003 Do I have to be fingerprinted when we enter America at Easter? What makes the Brazilians so special?? How come you want a momento of their visit but don't think im important enough to warrant a momento??
jjiimmyyt 0 #5 December 31, 2003 If you have a machine readable passport us Brits can enter the US under the visa waiver scheme. You fill out a couple of forms on the plane, hand them in at immigration when you land and you are good to go for 90 days. "This isn't an iron lung, people. wmw999 2,589 #7 December 31, 2003 So I guess that means it´s OK for us to ask others to do what we´re not willing to do? Actually, Carnival in Brazil is a pretty big thing; the boogie in Ubatuba is nice in the skydiving world, and Iguassu Falls is much nicer than Niagara. Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and much of the country is glorious. Things cost about a third of what they do in the US, so it´s also cheap to visit. But hey, we have all we need in the US, so why should we even try to find out what other countries can offer. PhillyKev 0 #8 December 31, 2003 QuoteSo I guess that means it´s OK for us to ask others to do what we´re not willing to do? Actually, he said it seems reasonable. Meaning it's reasonable that they would take the same precautions that we do. I have no problem asking foreign visitors to positively identify themselves, and would have no problem doing the same while visiting another country. No I'm not a threat to them, but there is SOMEONE out there that is. If 100 bucks keeps someone from blowing me and mine up then it's money well spent. I have no problem whatsoever charging that to people that want to enter and have no agreement as far as secuity of thier passport, nor do i have a problem being charged fo rthe same. You just have to put it in your travel budget. Otherwise, support those wholeheartedly and extinguish terrorism in the world. Seeing as the extinction of terrorism is very improbable, ante up - it costs money for security.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
riggerrob 643 #11 January 2, 2004 ... Pure reciprocity. ... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Americans sure know how to play that reciprocity game. Canada beat the US a couple of times at Olympic hockey, so they slap a high duty on soft wood lumber cut in Canada.
