Caffine addicts, I need a coffee maker.

Recommended Posts

I have a Sunbeam. It does the job! As far as what is important in a coffeemaker.....it's important that it works!;) I'm a bitch without my morning coffee....wait a minute I'm a bitch anyway! Coffee or no coffee!:D

one word. Krups.

i've had a Krups espresso machine and currently have the cafe duomo that does coffee and espresso and steamed/frothed milk for cappachino. never a problem, extra parts liek new carafes if yo crack one are easy to find.

As for gimmicks yo can get ones with timers so that your coffee will be ready at an appropriate time of morning for you and some are aroma proof so your whole house won't smell like coffee if you dont' like the smell. you can get krups stuff at bed bath and beyond along with normal stores.

Ours has a clock/alarm in it so I can set it up at night and have coffee ready by the time Tom's ready to leave in the morning. The one thing I did wish it had was an insulated carafe. Sometimes it sits a little too long and isn't as hot as I would like it to be.

Other than that, anything that makes magic wake up juice in the morning is great with me!;)

I agree. The coffee maker will have the insulated carafe. It seems that the ideal coffee maker will brew with a water temp of 200 degrees Farenheight. I'm getting the impression that cheap coffee makers don't do that, but rather brew coffee closer to 160 or so, a significant difference.

There have to be some real coffee aficionados out there, let's here it.

Craichead bought me one of these: http://www.cuisinart.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi/en/item.cgi?item_id=DGB-600BC

It is by far the coolest coffee maker in existance. It's got a built-in grinder, you add whole beans and water, the rest is done for you.

The upside is the freshest coffee you'll ever taste.

The downside is that its a bit expensive, and requires a bit more cleaning then most java-stations.

I have a black and decker that mounts under a cabnet. with a seperate water container so it does not have to use the pot.... i think it tastes better...

If you're only making one cup at a time, you need a Melitta One-Shot.

My wife doesn't drink coffee, and can't stand the permeating odor of brewing coffee floating around, and since I only have a cup or two a day, it's wasteful to make a pot.

She discovered this product, and we've been very pleased with the results.

Just put a filter and coffee into it, put it on top of your cup, and add hot water - voila!

Edit to add - filters are available at my local grocery store.

The Bunn coffee maker has a stainless steel warm water tank within the body of the machine itself. It can crank out a 10-cup pot in about 3-minutes. Note that they maintain a tank of hot water, which is not an issue in a colder climate, but it wouldn't cut it in a home with the air conditioner on too.

So which one should I buy?

Vacuum pot, no question.

What is important in a coffee maker?

Its output. If it produces crappy tasting coffee it's crap. If it looks like a POS and produces great tasting coffee then it's great...:)

I just bought one yesterday. It's a Krups Aroma Control with a stainless steel thermos. It makes a good cup of coffee. I'm having one now.

Two words,

Tim Horton's

Not only does Timmy's make the best coffee on the planet, but they sell coffee makers that heat the Holy Bejesus out of the water. (Not a scientific term :P).

That's apparently the secret to a great coffee maker.
