12/31/2003 - U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AFPN) -- People from the U.S. Air Force Academy will participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1.

The academy's parachuting and demonstration team, the Wings of Blue, is scheduled to parachute into the parade, while four cadets and the entire 69-person Air Force Academy Band will march in the parade. Cadet 1st Class William Carlos, Cadet 2nd Class Danial Naim, Cadet 3rd Class Grace Yi and Cadet 4th Class Kamille Kemp will march in front of the band and carry the academy and Air Force flags.

The band's Stellar Brass ensemble will perform for the WB network's pre-parade show.

The parachuting side of the academy's parade participation will be to bring the Rose Bowl flag into the Tournament of Roses parade.

The Wings of Blue will do the same for the Fiesta Bowl Parade on Dec. 31.

"Our landing is the cue for the floats and bands to begin their movement in the parade," said Tech. Sgt. Bryan Stokes, 98th Flying Training Squadron parachuting instructor. Officials said they expect more than 400,000 people to watch the Fiesta Bowl parade in Tempe, Ariz.
