New challenge

I have been talking for a long time about making some freefly pants and other stuff like that. I'm also about to start working on my riggers rating (something I've been wanting/needing to do for some time but have been putting it off...) So my girlfriend bought me a household-type sewing machine for christmas. What a cool chick.

Today, I wandered around the sewing store like a child lost in the woods. I looked around and I was the only guy in the store. I was standing in line between two nice older ladies. They thought that it was nice to see a guy that sews. I felt like any second I would blow my cover and give away the fact that I know nothing about sewing. Getting fabric cut was the most interesting part.

Tonight, I have been wandering around online in various sewing forums and sites.

I'm going to learn to sew. Oh man.

I got a sewing machine for Christmas, but am not as brave as you. We have a chain of fabric stores near me,and I plan on taking "Sewing 101" there before I attempt to sew anything. Good Luck!

You might take a sewing class at your local store such as JoAnn Fabrics . This is what I did and I told them I wanted to learn how to make jumpsuits and they taught me. The whole four week class was $75.00

Get rigger's thread or military grade nylon thread, talk to your local jumpsuit manufacturer if they're cool, wide velcro. Light denim works nice, so does supplex, etc.
