Common use of a spelling pronunciation has since restored the t for many speakers and now both pronunciations exist side-by-side. Although it is sometimes critized by the pompous, often with a T is now so widely heard again from educated speakers that it has become fully standard once again." Did Webster really use the word "predominate"? you know I looked at it again and webster wrote ". . . the (t) came to predominate in the speech . . ." I typed wrong. Shame on me. allisonjr 0 #53 January 7, 2004 Yikes....what annoys me is how often people misspell the word "definitely". I have seen people butcher that word by spelling it "definately", "definantly", etc. I never knew that word could be so complicated....*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Alli P.M.S. #3 If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions. sdgregory 0 #54 January 7, 2004 You know I definitively have a problem spelling that word. Truth be told I am a three finger typist and still type purty damn fast but because I am looking at the keyboard most of the time and cannot type as fast as I think I have more typos than misspellings. I am too lazy soemtimes to spell check. Does that definatlay make me a maroon?
