Jayruss 0 #1 January 8, 2004 So yeah after a "quick" meeting it’s plainly obvious that I have about two more months to work here. Though the words we're never spoken and I was praised for all my effort, its clear. I know I've only worked here 4 years, where as some of you have done decades but it still hurts. I know, I know it’s just a job but I've put a lot into developing our web systems and have several friends here. Anyone need a almost CPA with half a Masters in Computer Science? I wish I could just get this elephant off my chest . . . __________________________________________________ "Beware how you take away hope from another human being." -Oliver Wendell Holmes
ACMESkydiver 0 #2 January 8, 2004 Geez...sorry to hear that, Jason. I've faced that situation myself and it's not easy. NZL60 0 #3 January 8, 2004 damn... sorry to hear that.. been there, done that myself. Are you relocatable? execunet.com is a site I've used with a great deal of success in the past.. you have to pay to be a member which is unusual for recruitment sites but I think that's what makes it better.. well, it worked well for me in the past. Good luck ! Who said Kiwis can't fly?
happythoughts 0 #4 January 8, 2004 Quote I know, I know it’s just a job but I've put a lot into developing our web systems and have several friends here. When you develop systems, you will find that most of the customers have no idea what a good/bad job is. They have no true appreciation for what you do. For an illustration, see the Pointy-Haired Boss in Dilbert. Your only feedback is from your peers and friends. Don't worry about the job. Your friends will be friends and you can see them in other circumstances. Here is the upside to this. Usually, a company gives 3-4% raises. If you change jobs within a company, you can get 6%. If you find a new job, tell them that you were making 10% more than you are. Your old company will verify employment, not your salary. The new company will give you more money than you were making. And as far as encouraging words go. "if it means anything to you we will give you a good refrence if you need it" At that time you don't need good words you need a job.. so a notice is a great op to look for work because you will need work, not becasue you have to have work. Be thankfull for the notice, use it to your advantage, build your resume on thier time and use there office supplies to help in the process.www.greenboxphotography.com
 happythoughts 0 #10 January 8, 2004 Start looking around. You may be pleasantly surprised. If you get a better job, you'll be thinking, "This is awesome, I should have done this before." It might help in the interim...and I'm not sure about your state either, but unemployment may get you through for now... I completely understand the feeling of being booted and left high and dry...but (and please excuse the lame "buck up lil' camper" tone...) no kidding, every time I have been 'forced out' for one reason or another, I found something EXPONENTIALLY better that I wouldn't have even known about had I kept my job...~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
