taln1rigr 0 #2 January 9, 2004 Don't tease!! I'm on day 4 of my 2 week Atkins Diet Introductory Period & I'm cheating just by drinking 1/2 decaf & 1/2 caf coffee since, according to Atkins, I shouldn't drink caffeine at all. This sucks!!!! Have a few more cups for me. LOL!!

Pammi 0 #4 January 9, 2004 No coffee?! Nope, couldn't do Atkins then. Bad enough I'm trying to not drink beer for a while to lose the holiday weight + 5. You can't even drink black? I'd be one ugly hateful woman without any caffeine! Oh wait...I already am with Pammi
rehmwa 2 #5 January 9, 2004 Atkins thought that caffeine helps you retain water and stimulates the appetite. He also had issues with aspartame (sweetener in some diet pops). I found was restricted to only water if you followed all the rules. IMHO that was gratuitous additions by Atkins not 'really' related to the low-carb/balance nutrients approach of the core of the diet. So I drank the Fresca (aspartame) and the coffee is likely ok except remember it'll make you more hungry in general. ... Clownburner 0 #7 January 9, 2004 He was wrong about caffeine, it's a well-known appetite supressant, like most stimulants. However, Aspartame is nasty stuff, and it's not really fit for human consumption, IMHO. Studies have linked it with all kinds of nastiness from migraines to formaldehyde toxicity. Personally, I won't touch the stuff with a 3.4 meter pole. What's so bad about good old fashioned sugar? The 18 calories per teaspoon isn't going to kill you, I promise. 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
Deuce 1 #8 January 9, 2004 Don't feel bad. Remember I was the guy who brought an Espresso machine to Eloy. Like Quade once said, me without coffee in the morning is like the first 10 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, only much more violent.
SkydivingNurse 0 #9 January 9, 2004 Caffeine, like alcohol, supresses the body's release of antidiuretic hormone. That's why you have to pee so much when you drink either one of them, they make your body get rid of water much faster. lawrocket 3 #12 January 9, 2004 I myself am a coffee achiever, and I have been an active coffee drinker since I was 8 years old. Indeed, as an extremely ADHD individual, coffee is the best medication to keep my hyperactivity down. I will always love coffee, and keep it near and dear to my heart. Still, I am one of the lucky ones who is not a bear before coffee. I'm just a little wired without it... My wife is hotter than your wife.
