weegegirl 2 #30 January 10, 2004 i'm not afraid..... i LIKE vibes! i think it's more than just PWing. i think it's a way of saying... hey... heads up... this is what's going on in my llife and i need some positive energy sent my way. i agree, it's kinda lame and not the same value when typed into a message board, but i DO believe that good thoughts can go a long way. i'm one of those vibe-requesters. sorry, guys. i asked for vibes for a job interview about a month ago. i really wanted the job - i got the vibes - and i got the job. i guess i could take em or leave em. SkydivingNurse 0 #31 January 10, 2004 I think that even if people aren't going to pray for someone (that's an intensely personal decision), then whoever is on the recieving end of said vibes will appreciate the fact that people are thinking about them, if even for only a short while. Positivity! I love it. (but I would like to see {{{BOOBIES}}} threads~being a single guy and all )

3ringheathen 0 #33 January 11, 2004 Quote And I strongly believe in the power of concentrated positive thinking/prayer by the masses directed toward a single goal. It has been studied and proven in the cases of hospital patients; the ones that received prayer/concentrated positive thoughts improved faster/more completely. I'm not going to list a link to the research on that... I hate to be a killjoy, but those studies are flawed: http://www.findarticles.com/cf_0/m2843/2_24/60302608/p1/article.jhtml You can get far more profound health benefits and healing by letting patients cuddle with cats and dogs than you can with intercessory prayer. Those studies are repeatable and hold up to scrutiny, too. I'll take a dog over god any day. -Josh If you have time to panic, you have time to do something more productive. -Me* *Ron has accused me of plagiarizing this quote. sdgregory 0 #34 January 11, 2004 Well I gess if the Tessman's said it, than it must be true. Especially if it appears in the Skeptical Inquirer. They never get anything wrong.
3ringheathen 0 #35 January 11, 2004 Don't be silly. I wasn't making an argument from authority as you suggest. I simply posted the first link I found that described the flawed methodology that was used in the prayer studies. The fact is that accepted scientific methods were not followed in the study. Therefore the results aren't meaningfull, not because Tessman says so, but because it's junk science. -Josh If you have time to panic, you have time to do something more productive. -Me* *Ron has accused me of plagiarizing this quote. sdgregory 0 #36 January 11, 2004 QuoteDon't be silly. Dag Nabbit you stole my fun. Silly is where it is at. I am a firm believer in prayer however, especially when it comes to healing. Had a broken foot healed that way in 99.
