DYEVOUT 0 #1 January 15, 2004 Just did an approximate windchill calc. for exit altitude (12,000 feet AGL) at the local DZ. How does 80 degrees below zero sound ? Didn't figure in 73mph lateral wind, just 120mph freefall speed. I don't think I'm goin'. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court." cvfd1399 0 #4 January 15, 2004 How do you figure out wind chill?
AndyMan 7 #5 January 15, 2004 Remember that windchill formlas are attempts to quantify what something "feels" like. Once you get below -40, it just doesn't feel that different. Trust me on that one... Therefore, windchill formulas are effectively useless in the extreme temperature ranges. Yes, this includes current conditions in most of Canada and the northeastern US. I'm sure glad Chicago managed to avoid it, tho... _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
ChileRelleno 0 #6 January 15, 2004 Thats pretty friggin cold... I don't think I'd be jumping from full altitude either but there are such a thing as hop-n-pops ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
DYEVOUT 0 #7 January 15, 2004 Here's a site that does it for you (bottom of page), but the wind speed only goes up to 110. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/windchill/index.shtml ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
