Have you ever been robbed?

Also when I was like 8 or so the police uncovered a plot to kidnap my family to ransom us to my dad. So then we had to do some kind of WPP and they moved us around every two weeks for a few months until they could bring the whole thing down and convict the guys.

Man, that is messed up-is that why nothing bothers you now?

I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

I think skydiving did that for me, and I couldn't be more grateful. My family is pretty crazy in general though so I have a different kind of outlook on life from that too.

Was the perp a "law abiding citizen" prior to the shooting?

Nope. Never been robbed. I think that is due to a combination of common sense and luck. Even given the situation of a robbery, the action most likely to have you live through it is probably to give them the money. Of course, many will disagree with that. But the contents of my wallet aren't worth my life, so I'd certainly use it as a distraction/enticement to get through the situation.

I used to work the graveyard shift at a gas station. I was in the building, behind the bulletproof glass. A guy came by and scoped out the situation one night. He ended up buying cigarettes from me, then walked over and tried to rob the 7-11. He got the money and ran, but didn't make it 100 yards before he got snagged by the cops.

Being from Montana, we usually don't even lock our doors. We travelled to Palm Springs a few years ago to visit my brother. We all ended up in the back yard in the hot tub. While there some robbers came through the open front door and stole our wallets, cameras, and anything else that was handy. What really scared me, was that my daughter was the last one in the hot tub, and she could have been in the house when they came in. Another bad thing is that I almost didn't have enough money left to jump at Perris. Luckily I found another credit card.....Steve1

Dude, don't try to turn this into a fucking gun vs. anti-gun thread. This thread is trying to help someone by sharing personal experience.

Some jobs have a history of being high risk, night shift is even worse. Except for certain ethnic goups the owners don't work there so crime is just the cost of doing business.

Ever been robbed?

Sort of grew up in NYC didn't have anything but did wake up with people walking thru my apartment, or would wake up and find a open window that had been locked.

Funny story:Was staying at my Bro's frat house in the summer. Someone knocked on the door to his room in the middle of the day I was in bed and didn't answer the door. Bad move.

The door and door frame "fell" into the room. Big foot and his buddy started to enter, Surprise! I was motivated and they left. I proped the door in the hole and went back to bed.

Bro came home WTF happened to my door? Well....
What did the cops say? Say what didn't call the cops this is NYC. LMAO

We've been broken into in K.C & Seattle but the folks were real nice visited when we weren't home. Now I have insurance to cover my loss's and don't lock my door live in the country. Got 250 lbs of dog, two mouth's and eight feet.

There inside dogs and bark before anyone even see's our house.

R.I.P.

First year of law school, walking to McDonald's (law school was in Rampart - anyone who follows the news has heard of it).

A kid, about 15 years old. Had a little knife and wore his pants around his knees. Pulled the knife and said, "Give me your wallet." (I'd kept it in my front pocket). He was scared - probably new at this. I saw the knife, looked at his pants and knew he couldn't run too quickly. I turned and ran. He couldn't follow.

I wonder if that kid decided to wear proper robbery clothing later on.

Just read your post...
I propably missed it, but I didn't see any offers
to body guard in the responses--That would be my suggestion. Get the biggest or badest or ugliest cousins or brothers or friends you can find, (preferably armed if leagal {off duty officer?}) to stay with her at work for a while. Make sure someone calls the local boys, county, & or state
for regular patrols.

I think he was one of the "downtrodden", perhaps a "loser of life's lottery", and driven by an unfair society into a life of crime. We should therefore let him go, or at the very least, let me get a law degree while in prison so he can then sue the state.:|

Was robbed once.

3am an I am woke by an officer at my door. He actually asked if that was MY tire iron in the front seat of my car. He was driving by and noticed the passenger side window broken on my car. It seemed my wife left her purse in the floorboard on the passenger side and someone needed it more than her.

After reporting the theft to all our creditors. the reported back later that the gas card was used to purchase tires and a battery 50 miles north.

3 weeks later the police reported to us that a person was arrested with our cards on them. It seems that thieves get pulled over for speeding just like I do. But with ourstanding warrents they get searched while I just sit there.[:/]

End of story: We replaced our window at our own expense. The credit card charges were removed since we reported the thief prior to the card being used.
