Fellow geeks - help needed

Recommended Posts

OK, looks like no one saw my last post, so let me try it here under this title....

my first post:Ok, this one has me scratching my head.

I have WMPv9 on my PC at work, and just recently installed WinAmp5. Audio on WinAmp and WMP is now playing in double time, making even deep voices sound like hyper chipmunks.

I have the same setup at home (Except for the OS - 2000Pro at work, XP Pro at home).

Any ideas?

I've quickly went thru the WinAmp menus and didn't see anything about speed or pitch of audio, or on WMP.

second post:

I am at a loss here.

My PC is still playing everything at high speed.

I've uninstalled WinAmp, and even unistalled/installed my Sound Card.

Audio, including redbook/CD audio in WMP9, is playing at high speed (imagine a 33 record playing at 45). I have the latest updates for WMP and even DirectX....the only thing I haven't tried is seeing if there are updated drivers...

OS is Win2K Pro, and I was able to talk the tech guys into giving me admin rights.

Well, looks like that was it....or close to it - I just turned off any form of acceleration in DX9, WMP and Winamp. Looks like Winamp may have been the reason...now I just need to slowly add it back in one at a time. Not like I need high end stereo with just two spearkers at work.

Thanks Bri!
