The Apprentice

Recommended Posts

NBC's new reality show, The Apprentice.

The first episode just finished (PST). Gotta say, it's alot better than any other reality show that's playing right now. It's very interesting watching 16 overachievers trying to both work -with- each other and show how -they- should be Trump's pick.

Cunning, skill, honesty, and street smarts.

The 8 women pitted against the 8 men in trying to sell lemonade on the streets of NY...

Anyone else watch the show tonight?

I listened to it as I tried to do a couple of other tasks. I enjoy multi-tasking. It was interesting to see how Donald Trump thinks and why he makes certain decisions. Certain characters did stick out...like Sam. He's annoying, but he has gumption. He is laying it all on the line and taking risks. He'll either win big or loose big.

I am most interested in watching to see Donald's thoughts and decisions. If they make sense, I may to try to apply them on a lesser scale in my own career. I am usually too sweet-appearing with my career while people are trying to claw their way in or above me (or trying to stab me in the back). I had to learn how to swim with the sharks a loooong time ago, in order to survive. Sadly, people in most high-pressure work-environments like to try mess with people that they think are weak.

I like to think that I can be an effective leader/boss and keep my niceness ("Get more bees with honey"), but with some people, I have to be a more firm delegator/boss. Sometimes, the only way that I have found that certain screwed-up people at work respect me is when they try to f*ck with me and f*ck with me, until I finally rip them a new a**hole. Sadly, with some, that is all that they can respond to, but I hate having to go there.

I truly respect those that work best as a team. Without the team unity, we are nothing. Manufacturing and design is not a pretty business. It is all about the $$$. The majority of the people that I have encountered in this business lie, cheat, steal and will do almost anything to get ahead. It's sick. It is sometimes very emotionally conflicting for me, which is one of the reasons why I haven't worked full-time at it for so long. It is a business that encompasses my life. These junior manufacturing companies, like XOXO and Rampage, sadly take advantage of us time-wise (working skeleton crews to exhaustion sometimes). I still love design and usually love the break-neck pace.

I think that there is a lot about how the real world works that could be learned from "The Apprentice" and Mr. Trump. It's interesting ideas, more than anything...

No, I didn't like the annoying Sam, but I wanted them to KEEP him. At least he has something to say. He may be a prick, but he is ballsy. He'll probably get shit done. That is a good thing in my book.

I don't care how someone does a task that I may give them, just do it. I will explain things in the beginning, but at some point you have to figure things out youself. I do everything that I can at work to get things done for MY bosses, and I never say that I can't do something. Sam is like that. At least he is alive and giving it 200%. Unconventional ideas and risk-taking can be fabulous or a disaster. Like I said before, he'll win big or loose big. Who knows right now which way it will go.

I wanted to rip Sam's balls off and shove them down his throat. At least he would have shut up and listened to Trump then, who was trying to tell him something important!

Who can respect a guy who has -no- respect for anyone else?

He's self-reliant, very evident, but can he learn to be a team player?

I watched it too and will probably be tuning in every week just to see how it plays out and what it takes to be seen as an achiever in Trump's eyes. I agree with the choice to kick David off, he didn't seem like anything special to me. I found Sam annoying, then again you can't be a pushover in big business. I thought it was funny when he started saying something about Trump's upbringing and his parent's names. Trump should have said, "thanks for buying my autobiography, you kiss-ass!"

Sam reminded me of a nervous little chihuahua, but seems to have balls. I don't think he'll win, but David was just 'off' somehow to me. He was just a little to arrogant.

I was very surprised the women won on the lemonade though. With all of the over-thinking and bickering amongst themselves I was sure the guys would beat them. On the other hand though, I'm thinking some beautiful women on a street corner is going to sell more lemonade then a bunch of guys in suits.

It was interesting but I certainly have no desire for that kind of life. I guess I'll never be rich if that's what it would take!

The show rules, but isn't a competition in selling lemonade where you put guys up against a bunch of hot girls always gonna be a little bit harder on the fellas?;) Trump's pad was more what i'd expect of Goldfinger, didnt' know they shared that fetish. Seriously did anyone else think that place was like a day at the beach with no shades?

Trump's apartment would be Marie Antoinette's dream. Seriously, it looks like Versailles!

I really liked the show, and Trump was the best part. I think the smalltown farmer girl from Wisconsin is going to go far...she said nothing but her intro the entire show. I hope Trump kicks that arrogant bitch Tammy out to the curb at the first opportunity.

I agree with Trump's pick this time. David may be smart, but he didn't seem motivated.
