20 jumps in one weekend?

Recommended Posts

So my 1 year anniversary is approaching (1st tandem 1/25/03) and I have been "on hold" from jumping for the last few weeks yet I had this goal of hitting 400 jumps in my first year....Do you think it is possible to do 20 jumps in a weekend or will I be killing myself?

Just wondering..........have some additional motivation.....Friday will be my 35th birthday and I have a demo canopy just waiting to be jumped ;).

Well I guess we'll see...my weekend will officially start at 12:30 on Friday. Wish me luck!

If a guy can do 500+ in 24 hours, then you should certainly be able to do 20 in 2 days.

You might be tired/sore but hey! 400 jumps in one year!
I'm hoping to make 100 in the coming year.
You must have a trust fund and no job or something!

How the hell did you manage to jump so much?

it should be easy, really easy if you've got a packer, and people know your what your trying so they help plan interesting jumps..remember its about interesting jumps not about number of jumps..

i was averaging 9-11 jumps a day at eloy the summer i started...was over 20 on a few weekends...it was a really really nice worn out feeling on monday....B|

In my eyes every jump is a quality jump, as well as I make a point to learn something on every jump - be it a solo or jump with others...be it a fun jump or the few and far between coached jumps. As we all know, it's not a cheap sport/hobbie but one I have fallen in love with so I plan to make the most of eacha nd every part of it (and get my money's worth) ;)

@ Casie.....thanks for the bday wishes...hugs!

Of course it's POSSIBLE...

but for me...it certainly wouldn't be enjoyable. At least, not at this point.

I remember when 2-3 jumps in an entire weekend and I was tired.
This past weekend I did 10 jumps...and yes, I'm very sore...but it's getting easier and easier to do more jumps.

I think it's possible to do 20 jumps...of course. but I, at this stage of jumping, wouldn't want to do it simply because I get too tired...
(but maybe by the time I have 380 jumps I will feel differently!)

Totaly doable,

Get to the DZ early, get a packer and let them know what is up (bribes will generally get you packing priority), let manifest know what is up, as a backup if you want to make sure you can do it, rent a rig for one of the days, and do back to backs.

It also depends on what kind of plane you are flying in.

Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

Well I figure I'll be a bit "excited" on Friday just cause it's my birthday and I am all about BIRTHDAYS :P so I could probably get about 4 or 5 in that day, as long as there are others to fill the plane. Then Saturday and Sunday this new SoBe place ;) is having their first boogie and I HEAR Katana's will be flying AND I have some pals there I have not seen in IONS so might be JUST the place to slam out some jumps and hit my magical #400.

I'm all for packing myself but sure wish I could bring my very own packer with me for the weekend (the one and only Mr. Keith MacBeth always takes great care of me :)
Well I am motivated...have not jumped in 2 weeks (longest stint without being in the air since I started WAY BACK last January) and the weather is supposed to be nice......

Hugs to all..............

ummm.......no trust fund and thank GOODNESS I have a job (that pays well) but I no longer have a savings account BUT I have a smile bigger then ever so it is all worth it. I was very fortunate - fell into a rig to cut rental costs right off the bat and then made TONS of new friends so was able to travel and play quite a bit.

It has been one hell of a year for sure! B|

Sunnydee, you're my role model. I remember when I first got on these forums, I was blown away by the fact that you had made like 200-some jumps in your first six months in the sport.

As a newbie, I look up to ya.

Take care of that shoulder, D. It's not worth it to push it just for a number if you could end up setting your recovery back. Oh, and happy birthday! :)

Thanks a heap K...I was just looking last night through my year's events - my first year in skydiving - and stumbled upon my 4th of July in Raeford. It was great fun but I just could not keep up with the monkeys (probably STILL couldn't). I took first in my first pieing event as I was leaving - we got Amish good :P

Perhaps I will see you on the SunnyDee World Tour 2004 ;)
