Strong Tandem Rating

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into getting my tandem rating and a rig. I just talked to our current tandem master and he said we could work something out with his rig for using it etc. Anyone know where I can get a Strong tandem rating in the Midwest or close?

Thanks for the info all

Look at the USPA calendar. You need to attend a 2-3 day Strong TICC and then you have to find an examiner to do the first few jumps with you. You'll also need to do the certification under the examiner and the written paperwork there too.

One thing you should keep in mind is currency. Unless you are going to be doing tandems at least once every 30 days you will loose your tandem currency and will have to do the experienced jumper ride alongs to regain the currency. I'm going to have to take the rig out solo and then with experienced jumpers in the spring since I lost my tandem currency as of Dec 8th or about due to winter. Also unless you are going to be doing them every weekend its really not fair to put students with borderline current TM's. Expically low time TM's. Some DZ's will not let you do tandems at all unless you are going to do them every weekend due to that fact.

I would be planning on doing ATLEAST a tandem every 30 days if I get my rating. I would be down in the winter months just due to the weather etc unless I traveled south, but our current tandem master has to go thru the same thing each year as well taking an experience jumper up with him to get current after kansas defrosts.

I didn't see anything on USPA for strong, that's why I asked if anyone knew of a place in the midwest.

Thanks for the info and concern
