scottjaco 0 #1 January 26, 2004 Has anybody seen the Elsinore website recently. I was shocked at the photos. I didn't realise how big that trailer was. What sucks even worse is the instructors losing their rigs along with all the student/tandem rigs. I hope the insurance covers all the rigs! I have 2 questions, 1) in some of the photos, it looks like the container and d-bag protected some of the canopies? Are they airworthy? How would you test a canopy that survied a fire? 2)Does anybody know Chris Doner, I heard he was one of the instructors there. He was my jumpmaster at Air Adventures West. Anyway, he got 2 rigs stolen from there just before we got shut down by the man. It would really suck to hear that he lost yet another rig to this fire. Although, I don't think he leaves his rigs lying around anymore Why do instructors and some local fun jumpers leave their containers at the DZ? Thats almost as bad as leaving your keys in the ignition. Let me know your thoughts..... scott

Let me know your thoughts..... When they are tools of your trade and they are reasonably locked up you usually assume they will be safe. Do construction sites make the workers take all the tools home with them every night? I leave my rig out in my locker or just hanging on a rig rack at the DZ any night I'm sleeping at the DZ. Its a pretty normal thing to do when you trust all your friends at the DZ.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

downwardspiral 0 #5 January 26, 2004 Elsinore is home. I've been working there full time for over a year and there hasn't been a single problem with rig/gear thefts of any kind on the dz.www.FourWheelerHB.com

It takes an investigation and it would be months before getting the restitution._______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/

Elsinore burnt down Quote I have 2 questions, 1) in some of the photos, it looks like the container and d-bag protected some of the canopies? Are they airworthy? How would you test a canopy that survied a fire? No they are nowhere near airworthy. Canopies could be pull tested, but trust us, none of them survived. even ones that look like they are still in the dbag were melted together. would have been a fun high speed mal... Even just smoke damage ruins canopies. Quote 2)Does anybody know Chris Doner, I heard he was one of the instructors there. He was my jumpmaster at Air Adventures West. Thats almost as bad as leaving your keys in the ignition. Let me know your thoughts..... My thoughts are you are not very familiar with most dropzones and most instructors. Elsinore's school is locked everynight. It's not like we leave them sitting outside. Our school has bars on the windows and steel doors. And our full-time instructors on average have 2 rigs, 2 or 3 helmets, several jumpsuits, still and video cameras and lots of other camera equipment. Would you want to pack that up every night just to get it all back out and set up before 8:00am the next day? peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
scottjaco 0 #8 January 26, 2004 my question is, does the dropzone have insurance to cover the cost of the instructor's rigs/equipment?
lewmonst 0 #9 January 26, 2004 if you read the other thread, you'd know the answer to that is NO.http://www.exitshot.com
scottjaco 0 #10 January 26, 2004 that sucks ass! If I were an instructor, I'd be pissed! I thought most rigger lofts had insurance. I always ask before leaving my rig to get repacked. I guess thats a different situation though.
