jmpnkramer 0 #1 January 26, 2004 Left a little later than I wanted to. Got down there in approximately three hours from Z-Hills. Arrived just before 11 A.M. It was already packed. Got all checked in. A rather effortless check-in. It also helps to know most of the staff I recon? Honestly though very easy to get all checked in. Socialized for a bit. Saw some people I have not seen in awhile. Mostly Free-Flyers. It was funny when Kevin from P.D. came up to us all excited because we were the minority with booties on. Got in a couple of nice jumps with him and Richard S. I would like to give the staff KUDOS for being able to improvise as their Otter went down on Thursday. They had a Skyvan and a Caravan to jump for the weekend. Got to jump the new Katana. Although I asked to jump the 107 I was given the 120. Had a funky opening and glad I had a 120. Thanks Gilian! Gotta watch that hip ya know. It flew very nice and a sweet landing. Unfortunately I only jumped once because of time constraints. Brian Germain gave an awesome canopy control class as he usually does when present at places. He is also very helpful on an individual level as well. There was plenty of Corona and Heineken for everyone. They also had a mad amount of pizza. I had a very nice time down at the SOBE Boogie. I unfortunately was only there on Saturday though. I believe that the turn out was outstanding for them and I wish the DZ all the luck. Currently there are no sleeping arrangements on the DZ but I know that they are working hard with the city to make it happen. POLITICS! Those damn city officials always making things difficult for the DZ's! I am sure they will have everything up to speed soon though. If you have never jumped down there take the time to make it. ladyskydiver 0 #2 January 26, 2004 Nice DZ and very friendly people. Check-in was very quick and easy. Gotta agree...it was very funny when Kevin from P.D. asked us to belly fly with him and Richard. Met Brian Germain and Michelle Germain. Had been corresponding with Michelle about demoing a Lotus 150. When Brian got to the DZ, he willingly hooked up the Lotus for me and answered a bazillion questions that I had. Quite a patient teacher and more than willing to share his knowledge with you. Ended up getting in 3 jumps and grew more comfortable with the Lotus as I jumped it more. Never realized how docile my Silhouette is until I jumped this one. But, boy...did I have fun playing with it, and Brian was even giving me pointers on the plane ride up on doing different things with the canopy. And, for anyone who meets up with him, take his canopy control class...ask him questions...pick his brain...he's more than willing to share the knowledge he has. This is the first time that I'd been at a DZ where part of the flight up was over water. Talk about not feeling like things were right. I mean...getting out over water. However, the scenery is gorgeous! Seeing the lake underneath you, flying over it under canopy....I just wish that I had been able to be on the sunset load and see the sunset over the lake while I was under canopy. That would have been spectacular! Tons of pizza was available in the evening as well as a ton of beer. All-in-all, it was a great way to spend the day. Unfortunately, we had to drive back that evening, but it was a fun trip. Congrats to SoBe on their first boogie! It was fun and enjoyable experience. The staff did an excellent job making everyone feel welcome.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.
sunnydee123 0 #3 January 26, 2004 I'm there with ya Kramer...I thought things went really well for all the somewhat bad publicity that seems to hover around "what used to be". I was disappointed the Otter was down (I jumped it LOTS at the Richmond Boogie) but was happy to see Rob and his big bird and then in flew a little piece of my home (the Sebastian Caravan). I would have liked to jump a bit ....about umm 6 more times and hit 400 but wasn't meant to be. (Sunday was 1 year since my first tandem). Most of the gang was there who participated in my 100th jump and don't ya know - I FINALLY GOT PIED. I need some of the video or pics from that if anyone can hook me up I thought Pahokee was a pretty place to jump and the landing area was nice for all skill levels. The staff were all smiles all weekend, many of us got the pleasure of seeing Mr. Germaine's booty BEFORE the canopy seminar and most important, the toilet paper was awesome - no industrial cardboard there . Thanks for a great weekend and I hope things work out for everyone who has worked so hard to get this place back up and running. Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... jmpnkramer 0 #5 January 26, 2004 QuoteHOLY CRAP! Please tell me what happened to the otter! That's our airplane! Oh, no! Not sure you would have to ask them. Someone commented on how fast it was and all I could say was that it did not look that fast to me. Laters, .The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" ChasingBlueSky 0 #6 January 26, 2004 I'm curious as well - last time I saw that plane in July it was still in great shape. I'd be curious to hear more about the Katana from anyone else that jumped it._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... weegegirl 2 #7 January 26, 2004 I was there for Chrismas/New Years and it was running great! Still the best plane I know of - 10 minutes to altitude - smooth ride - great pilot. And Ron takes top care of that plane. So if anyone else knows details about the condition of the otter, I'd love to hear em.
jmpnkramer 0 #8 January 26, 2004 Goodness people! ALL MECHANICAL THINGS BREAK AT SOME POINT! I am sure it is just something that they need a part for. Laters, .The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! Stacy 0 #9 January 26, 2004 I had a great time too. JUmped a samurai, came home, bought (99%, pending rigger check) a samurai. Watched dagny fly sans jumpsuit and ended up with two impromptu tracking dives. it was one of those days to just jump out and yell "Wheeeeeeeee!" the whole way down. __

And Ron takes top care of that plane. So if anyone else knows details about the condition of the otter, I'd love to hear em. It was running fine the prior weekend, I doubt it's anything severe. I was wondering why they had it tied up on the runway though for the boogie(didn't know it was broke). I thought it was just because everyone wanted to jump out of a loud, noisy, smelly, loud and noisy skyvan. Hardly anyone was using the caravan. It was very roomy on the ride to altitude

sunnydee123 0 #16 January 26, 2004 I used the Caravan and was very happy with my MANY comfy rides to altitude. Also kinda nice to be able to talk on the ride up as well. Someone mentioned something about a prop spinny thing not working......I'm sure the "boo boo" will be fixed soon. Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... SkydiveNFlorida 0 #17 January 26, 2004 No shit.. this boogie was AWESOME! I had such a fun time, saw so many people from diff dzs in fla,... and met a few new people as well:) QuoteHardly anyone was using the caravan. It was very roomy on the ride to altitude Whatever, man! I only made 2 jumps out of this thing, but both were PACKED... 16 jumpers! I could barely breathe and was happy to jump the skyvan... plus, a little noise never hurt anybody, I think men can't truly appreciate the skyvan Quote Mostly Free-Flyers. That's funny because I was thinking, ... wow, look at all the bellyflyers that showed up! It seemed like a lot to me, usually there aren't but a couple here, if any. QuoteBrian Germain gave an awesome canopy control class You're not lying! I was thinking... eh, maybe I won't go.. I already took a class with Scott Miller... but, I decided to check it out and i'm SO glad I did. I learned a lot from Brian, he's great! QuoteIf you have never jumped down there take the time to make it. The view is AWESOME! You should see it at sunset! You must come back and visit us again, it really is the BEST view i've seen at any of the dzs in Florida. The sunsets are amazing as you face west and look over the lake. Just breathtaking! Rory has some pix of the sunsets there, maybe he'll post them sometime:) A big hug to everyone I didn't get to say goodbye to, and everyone else I didnt' get to meet... we'll be out at the Pink Mafia boogie in z-hills next weekend, hope to see many of you there! Awesome boogie SoBe! Angela.
