Gravitymaster 0 #1 January 27, 2004 Here's a story which demonstrates Frankens attitude on Free Speech. What would Jack Handy do? http://nypost.com/news/nationalnews/16692.htm
benny 0 #2 January 27, 2004 I'm good enough I'm smart enough... Rock on, go Al. Hmm, not sure about the situation, but Al has made it clear on several occasions that he's willing to fight for his beliefs. He's challenged a couple of conservatives to fights. They never will take him up on it though... So much for liberal p%$$ies. Never go to a DZ strip show.
TheAnvil 0 #3 January 27, 2004 I read a bit from his book at the bookstore and heard him a couple of times. He's pretty pathetic, but then again, a lot of the logic [sic] coming from the Dims is these days. Democratic icon - probably. Liberal icon - I hope not. I would hope that true liberals realize they no longer have a national party. (Conservatives are following their lead on that, though a bit more slowly)Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! Bullies rarely do. I know a few who would make what Franken did the last thing he'd ever do on 2 good legs. Seriously, can you imagine what would be said here if this had been say Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity?

I remember when he was part of Franken and Davis on Saturday Night Live, I used to leave the room to get a beer whenever his skit came on. Somehow he will always be Stuart Smally to me. TheAnvil 0 #7 January 27, 2004 I'd LOVE the opportunity to argue with that genius[sic]. Unsure as to which conservatives he's challenged. He made a fool of himself in his book - what I read of it. I'd pay some $$ to see him argue with Walt Williams, Hannity, Neal Boortz, Tom Sowell, David or Rush Limbaugh (I'd prefer David truth be told), or Phyllis Schlafly. Especially Schlafly - she's such a brilliant woman.Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

Yeah, no shit. The only reason he was on SNL at all must have been because he was really good with kneepads & mouthwash. It certainly wasn't because he had a lick of real talent. Ever notice how he was always third string behind the main cast? Most of them went on to have REAL show biz careers (e.g., starring in feature films - mostly comedies). The cast members who are still alive, that is (Murray, Akroyd, Chase) , with the exception of Laraine Newman... Looks like Frankenstein finally found something he's good at - being a little yapping dog out on the fringe. I still don't know how he got the label "humorist". Dave Barry is a humorist. fringe. Frankenstein isn't funny, and he isn't entertaining. mh edit to add SNL cast names & spelling correction"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." That was his main contribution to the show, being a writer. He occasionally made some on camera appearances, but a lot of the stuff you laughed at on SNL in the 70s would have been written by Al Franken. Check the writing credits.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Franken: Rush, I personally am for the legalization of drugs and decriminalization of users thereof, how do you feel. Rush: You damn liberals always talking about how drugs should be legal. Drugs are bad. Drug users are breaking the law and they should all be locked up. Police: Mr. Limbaugh it's the police, open up. Rush: Oh shit, what did I just say. Yeah, Rush makes so much sense, really. Never go to a DZ strip show.

Do you have a SNL resource that lists skit credits? mh"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

quade 4 #23 January 27, 2004 Quote Do you have a SNL resource that lists skit credits? No, sadly. My guess is that it's most a collaborative effort. Team sitting around a table. Head writer giving a sense of direction while everyone tosses out gags and one-liners, workshop it a bit, ad lib, see what's funny and have somebody put it on paper.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
