velo90 0 #1 January 28, 2004 I don't mean just snow on the ground, I mean while it is actually snowing! I did one last Saturday. I found out snow can also be painfull while under canopy
Malfunction 0 #2 January 28, 2004 yeah, but it looks cool swirling around in the nose of the canopy... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire
vt1977 0 #3 January 28, 2004 Does hail count? That hurts! Even wearing a full face it hurts your neck. Horrible! Vicki
velo90 0 #4 January 28, 2004 Hail ! That's usually a sign of something more nasty nearby, like Cb clouds. I'll let it count though
swooper120 0 #5 January 28, 2004 I once made a Hop and POP..freefall was through snow....then ice and hail ..and then rain under part of my canopy ride...after about 500 feet it all went away, one of the most painful, but awesome jumps I was ever on!!! Good stuff!!!
slug 1 #6 January 28, 2004 Quoteyeah, but it looks cool swirling around in the nose of the canopy... We were jumping a cruiselight when we jumped while it was snowing. It was just raining on the ground but the altitude temperature thing changed that. We got about 3k befor the visiabily starteed getting challenging due to the snow and did a hop & pop. The snow didn't sting like rain but when I checked the canopy I could see the snow collecting, inside my canopy. Whatever, Did a controllability check the canopy worked. Landed in the rain and the Ice that had collected on the leading edge of the nose fell off We decided we didn't need to jump anymore that day. R.I.P. DJatLarge 0 #7 January 28, 2004 Not heavy snow mind you, but first out the door, and then you feel it smacking you in the face....... and my last jump there first weekend in January, there was about an inch of snow on the ground, so a nice crunch on landing! bch7773 0 #8 January 28, 2004 I've jumped with snow on the ground. And i have jumped with snow/ice in the air. Its kinda hard to tell which it is when its stinging your face at 120 mph. It stopped before i got under canopy, which is too bad, since i think it would look really cool to fly around with the snow. MB 3528, RB 1182
