flyangel2 2 #26 January 29, 2004 QuoteSnowboards only have one edge to worry about, not two. Last time I looked at my board there were edges all around it. Toe edge and heel edge. QuoteJust keep your weight forward Not in powder. It will pile up on the tip of the board and she won't be able to go any where. Val, take a 1/2 day lesson, you'll enjoy it more.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
WFFC 1 #27 January 29, 2004 Pssst. Val darling. A hill twice as I as a speedbump does not qualify as a place to really ski or snowboard at Snow skiing is much different than water skiing so you'll have to watch your balance. I tried snowboarding once, but had just spent a chunk on new skis so I didn't try again. If you're looking to seriously try, the best place around here to learn it probably chestnut mountain (read speedbump) over in Galena.----- ~~~Michael
Zenister 0 #28 January 29, 2004 Quote happiness in skiing or snowboarding is all about clothes. If you are not properly dressed, you will be miserable. words of wisdom Lew... i'd only add one thing to everything else... cotton kills! just say no to cotton, i dont care how cute it is.....if its cotton you shouldnt be wearing it anywhere i might get wet...period.____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. hmatousek 0 #29 January 29, 2004 Hey girl, I'm not experienced in either of the sports but I skiied once this winter and snowborded once last winter. I have been on a wakeboard a few times and it did help when snowboarding. I felt that skiing was a lot easier. When I explained to Drew my method of stopping he told me "some people call it falling, I call it stopping", that was me on a snowboard. Whatever you do have a ton of fun!!!! Vallerina 2 #31 January 29, 2004 Hey, Lew! (Off topic...I hope everything is going well for you and Ed. I'm really sorry to hear about Elsinore.) Thanks for all your advice! After reading through that, I think I'll wait on that crazy snowboarding stuff for awhile. My knees are sore enough as it is. I don't need to mess them up even more right now. QuoteIf I had the opportunity, I'd teach you myself. Good luck with Erk. Quote"some people call it falling, I call it stopping" I love Drew!!! I wish he'd get on dz.com! Quotewhat's wrong with sledding?? Sledding reminds my body that it's no longer 10 yrs old, and things hurt me now! Thanks for the advice! I don't know if we'll make it out this weekend, but I may go on a weekend ski trip with my brother, his wife, and a few of his friends. It would be BIG fun! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
PhreeZone 20 #32 January 29, 2004 I like how little faith everyone has in me teaching Val to enjoy the snow... Its looking iffy on the skiing this weekend. With highs at 15 and 20 mph winds its on the edge for even me to be out there on the slopes.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Vallerina 2 #34 January 29, 2004 QuoteAhhhh, to live in TX Are we supposed to finish that sentence??? Ahhhh, to live in TX means driving for hours and hours to find a town with a population more than 4. Ahhhh, to live in TX you must be missing half of your teeth. Ahhhh, to live in TX means you have to admit you come from the same place as GWB. Ahhhh, to live in TX sucks! Sorry, I haven't made fun of anyone today.... PhreeZone 20 #38 January 29, 2004 > I don't trust him! He's out to get me! Ok Val, the level of difficulty starts at Black and goes to Green then Blue (just like the brusies that your boyfriend left on your arms ). Pretty simple, if its got a picture of a diamond thats this places starter hill. Ready to go skiing? How is that out to get you?
