weegegirl 2 #27 October 16, 2003 QuoteI'm nervous that I may truly suck and look like a fool in that tunnel Don't sweat it sweetie. I sucked big time last winter for the first... ummm... two minutes. Then you get the hang of it. It's a lot different when you truely only have 12 feet to fly in. It's the best learning tool I've had so far. The coaching down there is fantastic! You'll do great!!! turtlespeed 226 #28 October 16, 2003 It's so cool that Arlo will be there, too! I'm nervous that I may truly suck and look like a fool in that tunnel, but I am so very excited about how much I will learn and achieve!!! You worried....heh....not as worried as I am. I am determined to get better though.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
skymama 37 #29 October 16, 2003 There's a hotel across the street from the tunnel (The Continental?). It is very basic and not fancy at all. But if they give you a good rate, go for it. You won't be in the hotel much anyway, so why spend a lot of money on it? The convenience of a minute walk seems like a good thing to me.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #30 October 16, 2003 Yes, I PMed you about that, Skymama. I wanted to stay right across the street, but I was given mixed reviews about that hotel. I do want for it to be close and inexpensive, though...
marcandalysse 0 #31 October 16, 2003 I DO NOT recommend the Riande Continental in front of skyventure. We didn't like it much. There is a Best Western right next to it that was nicer and maybe even a bit cheaper. It would be fun to meet you, but most of the zhills dz.commers are only there weekends... turtlespeed 226 #32 October 16, 2003 Have you heard anyting about the Red Horse Inn? It looks nice on the website and the prices are reasonable, and it is recomended on the tunnelcamp website.....Breakfast, pool, 1 Block away(a walk in the morning to wake you up) or a run, if you are runnng late.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Stacy 0 #33 October 16, 2003 ah, I've stayed at teh Riande plenty of times. It's not horrible. No it's not worth many stars, but during tunnel camp when all I did was sleep there and shower, no biggie at all. If you tell them you are at the tunnel it's like 35/night w/2 double beds. __
klingeme 1 #34 October 16, 2003 See if you can catch a ride with the coaches for the tunnel camp back to their home DZ. Mark Klingelhoefer

bendywendy 0 #36 October 17, 2003 The Rionde is pretty inexpensive but old and dirty. The best western is the better choice. Clean and newer and not very expensive either. It's always been about 39.95 when I've stayed there.
arlo 0 #37 October 17, 2003 okay, this is the scoop on the hotels around the tunnel. the riande continental plaza sucks. the best western movieland is about a block away and is a decent place to stay. it's also the most expensive of the "do-able" options. i think it runs around $45-ish a night. the motel 6 (which i don't normally stay in) is across the street (still walking distance). it is a new one with indoor access to rooms. i would recommend this for the budget shopper: $30/ngt for up to 4 ppl in a room. seriously, i would normally cringe at the thought of a motel 6, but this one is fine. red horse inn: this is the farthest away of the aforementioned, but it's still walking distance. they have just rennovated this joint, so i haven't been in the rooms to see them. i hear they are fine, but that the beds are hard. seriously. :) that's the only feedback i've gotten on those. if i had the extra money to spend, i'd stay at the best western movieland. if i needed to save a couple bucks, i'd stay at the motel 6. Rosa: call brannon at skyventure and see if there might be someone wanting to share a room. there may be another girl in the camp in the same situation as you. that would be the ideal way to do it. you're only in the hotel to sleep as it is....days are long, but fun. if you need a number for any of these places, just ask or check hotel info hope this helps. :) arlo
happythoughts 0 #38 October 17, 2003 A review of all the local motels? (You aren't going to kick my ass now, are ya? )
bendywendy 0 #39 October 17, 2003 Best Western Movieland will usually match local hotel prices if you call them.
arlo 0 #40 October 17, 2003 if that's the case, then i'd stay at the best western. good input wendy. :) so how the hell are ya anyway? long time no see. ...and bickner? you are one of the few that could get away with saying that....but only because i feel responsible for your affinity for women's lingerie. xoxo
turtlespeed 226 #41 October 23, 2003 9 days and counting. . . . . . . . . Still looking for a DZ to go to. Here is what I have heard so far (please add personal opinion): Deland: Would be great if I was on a team Zhills: Cool place, didn't hear alot about it. Sabastian : I have spoken to and met more people from Sebastain So, if anyone is going to be at any of these places or has any other suggestions, I am more than open for them.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
kelel01 1 #42 October 23, 2003 Hey, is there a DZ near Sarasota anywhere? A large portion of my family lives down there, and I just want to have an idea of where to go when I visit them. Blue Ones, Kelly

Stacy 0 #50 October 23, 2003 i don't get what you're saying. I live in FL. I regularly jump at ZHills or Sebastian depending on my whereabouts for the weekend. I will probably start going out to the new pahokee DZ in Nov, as it's about 45 mins closer to me than Seb is, at least on weekends I spend on the east coast of FL. If there's something going on that I know about I'll plan in advance. otherwise, I'm fairly last minute. If I had my way, I"d be at ZHills all the time. It's just too far from where I live. __
