quade 4 #3 January 29, 2004 Quote Just think, if Dean were already in office, he could just call for a tax hike! Really? Because to me it sounds like he'd be asking for greater results without raising taxes or creating a deficit. Something I wish GWB would think about.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #5 January 29, 2004 Quote Someones got their panties in a knot. Not really, I just think that people have blown the after Iowa campaign rally into something it is not and now those same folks are trying to make hay out of Dean's attempt to get his monies worth out of his campaign finances. Both issues deflect the attention of the public away from the main issues of the safety of the nation, the safety of our troops and the remarkably high deficit. In other words, it's a tempest in a teapot and if the Reps really had something to talk about they would, but they don't so . . . they try to make mountains out of really trivial stuff.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
skymama 37 #6 January 29, 2004 I saw a report on tv last night that said the scream wasn't as loud as it seems. He was using a hand-held mike which filters out background noise when it's shown on tv. When they played the tape of what it really sounded like for the people who were in the room, you could hardly even hear him above the noise of the crowd. I'm not a supporter of his, I just thought that was interesting. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Deuce 1 #7 January 29, 2004 Q, I think that kind of entertainment value couldn't be passed up by anybody in media, regardless of their political positions. It's part of the strategery of it all.
turtlespeed 226 #8 January 29, 2004 heh. Funny you say that Quade - Are you not party to harping over the "Bushisms"? Yes, quite a few mispoken words, it happens, I am sure your diction is perfect though, because you can, in good concience, critisize others, right?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

ScubaSteve 0 #10 January 29, 2004 Since we are talkiung about the deficit we should adress it correctly and realize the absolute size of the deficit is practically meaningless. The informative measure is the size of the deficit relative to the size of the economy. For example, even though the deficit for 2004 may be the largest in dollar terms, as a percentage of GDP it is smaller than those of the 1980s and early 1990s. Size may count in many things, but not here. As for the safety of the troops: I blame most deaths on the left. They give aid and comfort to the enemy by making a political issue out of national secutiry. This reaises the moral of the terrorists and thugs while demoralizing our troops. We may all disagree about the reasons for going to war and if we should even be there. One thing we should never do is give comfort to the enemy when there are boots on the ground. These issues should be debated in the halls of congress and not the UN and Al-Jezra (SP).
