What a pleasant surprise.....

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to think how I can make this long story short. Here goes...

I have a friend Bob who I've known about a year now. He's from North Carolina. He's in the service and last year he was sent to Baghdad.[:/] He was sent there to help set up hospitals and equipment. On July 21st his entourage was delivering some supplies and they got hit. I won't get into the gory details, but 2 men he was with died and Bob was hurt so badly that they didn't think he would make it. He made it to Germany then back to Walter Reed where he was inpatient for awhile. We've exchanged IM's and emails. He wasn't in good shape, but he was alive.:)
Today I get called to the waiting room at work and who is standing there.......Bob!:)
Sorry to ramble, but today was a good day and I just wanted to share.:)
Peace and hugs to all!:)

When I walked out and saw his smiling face, it was the best gift I could have ever received.

I know the feeling. I have had MANY friends in the past few years off to dangerous places. One good friend and jump buddy was with the first Ranger unit into Afghanistan. It was a great day when he walked back in the hangar at SD Atlanta. Even better since he was carrying a HUGE bottle of Crown Royal Special Reserve from the Class 6. We got so plowed that night all the regulars were trying to kick me out of the hangar. :D (I can be slightly annoying sometimes...I know it's hard to believe.) I also got the pleasure of doing his recurrency jump with him the next day!

That's awesome!B| We had hoped to do some fun jumping together, but due to all his injuries that's out of the question. I am going to visit him in NC and we're gonna go to Raeford to hang out though.:)

I had a similar good day.
My platoon got deployed but the 1st sgt keept me back on rear D because I was on orders for Korea. One day I read in the stars and stripes that the 1-63 scout plt got ambused . I was freaking out because all my best friends were there. the paper said one soldier was shot . My stomach was in a knot cause I didnt want any of my friends to be hurt, then I got inside news on who had ben hit. I was totaly freaking out then cause I new it was one of my budides. I went up to landstule[sp] (in Germany) regional medical center and found one of my best friends lying in a bed with a hole in his stomache(7.62). The day I walked in and saw he was ok was one of the best days of my life. We lived and partied togeather for 2 years and I was so glad he was going to make it!.
We caught up on what was going on with the rest of my buddies, but plain and simple it was so good to see him ok.

P.S.He was awarded the Purple heart for wounds recieved in battle and a Army Comendation Medal With Valor device for Valorus actions preformed under fire!!

all you dick heads better come back ok, so I can come visti!!!!!!!!!!!

That'll be WAY cool! Aviator's is a blast even if you don't jump. He can also take some time to hit the Coconut Monkey Spa, lounge, and artillery range. :D For some Uhhh.....therapy in the hot tub!

That's so awesome! I'm glad he's basically OK. Stories like that make my eyes well up-- so many friends in the service in scary places now. Many thanks to your friend, and all the other servicemen and women out there:)

I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude for those who serve and have served our country.:)

I've heard nothing but good things about Raeford. I figure it would do him some good to hang around a bunch of crazy skydivers!!:D
